Anonymous Coward User ID: 1194370 United States 02/24/2012 09:55 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | yeah, I was very active in sports in my youth and it was my dominant arm so perhaps it simply never had the proper rest to set and heal properly. I cannot say. I am old now and it is not painful, but it never healed properly or fully. It likely depends on many factors. I am no doctor. If you want the highest chance of recovery, get a few opinions and do what you need to do based on your circumstance. Best wishes man. God Bless. peace, |

There is so much variation in this type of injury that it is hard to say if you would need surgery or not without an MRI. |

Damn, maybe you could say you injured it it yesterday or stage some kind of mock accident where you hurt it. Too late for that too, because they got mad that I mentioned that I hurt it a week late. "Serious violation." |

I didn't tear the bicep and I'm optimistic it will heal, with some help from glucosamine chondroitin. I don't think it's too terribly damaged because it really only hurts when I put a shirt or coat on. Oweee! |

I presume your employer is aware of your condition now and is blaming an insurance company rule as to why they won't pay to fix you. Bad news is that they will now be looking for reasons to fire you, as you are not as useful as you once were to the company. "Pre-existing" conditions are one of the favorite ways for insurance companies to deny coverage. My brother in law is going through that as I speak. Works for a company for 12 years with no problems, then gets run over by a truck while riding home on his scooter and is left with a permanently injured leg. Goes through the rehab and gets back to work and now he is getting written warnings for not doing his job. Make sure you protect yourself from "wrongful termination" by doing your best and keeping track of everything. They will make shit up and you better be able to disprove it. |

But that's just typical of getting older. We hurt ourselves. Before our generation, nobody ever got surgery for such a thing. 30 years ago, my grandpa used to tell me that when you get older, everything hurts... and I'm getting there... |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 9894803 United States 02/24/2012 10:16 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I tore my rotator cuff about 5 years ago falling off a horse. It was not real painful Just a dull constant pain in my upper arm. The Doctor said it can not heal on its own because its a tendon that is torn loose from the shoulder. The longer you wait the more the tendon gets fryed like the end of a rope. I had the surgery and it was about a year before It felt back to normal. The hard part is the rehab. You have to really work hard at it or your arm will lock up to your side. My advice Go see a doctor, get the MRI. It may not be torn, It may just be a bad sprain. I have had several of those where I could not use my arm for awhile. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 11355292 Mexico 02/24/2012 10:25 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I recommend getting the surgery. but if you do not want the surgery I recommend doing these exercises it can heal but it will take a long time because you do not have very much blood flow going to that part of your body.. expect at least 3 to six months to possibly fully recover without surgery but if your rotator cuff is not attached properly to the bone surgery might be your only choice.. wait about three months doing rotator cuff exercises but if no improvement occurs get the surgery.. |

Valeria User ID: 5318924 United States 02/24/2012 11:36 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The surgery wasnt bad at all nor the recovery. I had a torn RC for near 5 years and didnt know aside from the pain in my shoulder. Doctors ignored it as much as I did. So, the neurologist confirmed a tear via MRI, which I think was the worse part, and the surgical procedure was to build a surgical nylon net for support and some cleaning up of tissue then tear repair. I had like four 1/2 inch incisions and a pain pump. I have other neurological issues but my shoulders range of motion is a lot better. Good luck! TRUTH its the new hate speech.
