The whole doom factor has been (like you said) brought about by the media. If they can keep us in that state then it will most certainly bring us doom. If we can overcome it and realize it's not about doom, then we can create a whole new world. They don't want this, and IMO "NWO" is a term used to make people fear this new world. It's kind of opposite of problem, reaction, solution. I guess more like double speak.
