Outsourced for the poor and unionized for the wealthy. We have become a service country with too few exports. I have been trying to figure out what keeps our capitolist economy going for years the way the Government tosses tax dollars around like candy. As I see it we have two or three main exports these days (excluding democracy) Computer software/hardware, Entertainment, and maybe our agriculture. And I think our entertainment industry is our biggest export... For some reason the world seems to eat up our movies music and games. After considering that all see america producing is service industry jobs. Gas station attendents, Burger fliping jobs, Wal-mart zombies...

That space shuttle has been a good work horse. Its put many corperate sattilites into space so that we could watch tv, listin to radio and forget all about the meaning of civic responsablity. Now days we have the resource and understanding to build better work horses but no governmetn agency in charge of the space budget seems to want that. We should be well on our way to better space exploation and colonization. But I don´t think we can get there until we solve our problems at home first.

As for the nation of the american federal empire...I think it ended with lincon. Lincon enacted executive order. he was the first president to do so and only did it to hold this nation together during the first civil war. After the war was over he was supposed to abolish the power of exectutive order but he got murdered before he could do that and the next in line was a lame duck that did nothing and so we have been in a perpetual state of martial law and executive orders ever since.
In a true republic the leader doesn´t have any kind of absolute power that the US president enjoys.
