I've kind of thought they don't care. Truthfully they're happy consumers are spending money at all - even if it is on food.

To the poster above who said $300, yeah maybe if you roll your own. The prepacked kits though are usually sealed up and have gotten really outrageous in price. I agree though that you can do it yourself for cheaper. Not a bad idea to "mix it up" a bit though with your own stuff, a basic 'kit', etc.

First thats less than 3 dollars a day, so even if you needed a few more items, its still a good deal. Second, you deviated my original point that nobody cares. I am not about debating price. If you own your own farm land than it could be cheaper.

We don't even need to fill up our salt shaker more than once a year and I use sea salt in cooking and it takes a year to go through it, also.

Essentially you own nothing, and if they confiscate it, they dont have any requirement to pay or compensate you for it, or even return it, so it is further evidence of a 100+% taxation already extant.
Oh and they can appropriate your labour and assign you to work details anywhere and doing anything they choose, so you cant even be left alone after being looted.

This is no joke, and the nation died when they wrote themselves 'justification' to loot your finances and your property by simply claiming a "national emergency". Ok lets look at this with logic. To round everyone up, go lauch assaults all all the armed hoarders, take all your land, and do all the other shit you claim, they would need about half of all of us to become federal agents and that would defeat the purpose of disposing of half the poplulation.

The government cant even catch half the guys who have warrants bc they dont have enough empoyees. Where do they get all of the manpower to enforce any of this. The 'stockpilers are terrorists' is a bit overblown. It makes people go and stockpile on the sly anyway because they think the govt. knows something is coming.

It's not about arresting you, genius

It's about identifying preppers as criminals in the eyes of the law, which makes them subject to "official" surveilance; they want to know who (and more importantly, where) the big food hoarders are, so they can track and control all those precious resources. Resources disappear quickly in disaster situations, making every pocket of available food, water, etc an incredibly precious commodity (indeed, a matter of nat'l security)

They can't catch all "criminals", but they can find criminals' reserves, as it's on public record. Runners can't take their food stock with them while they're on the run, and lone wolf types don't stand a chance defending their stash against a gang of "law enforcers"

the goverment does not give a shit about food hoarding cause when it all comes apart like a cheap chinese plastic gadget. food will be the very least of most peoples concerns. asides every single crazed mutant a hoarder dispatches is one less threat to the goverment. round robin darwin death matches while the elite sit out on yachts laughing at the drone cams.

rice, beans flour, cooking oil, salt, sugar, etc...is not that expensive.

last time i was at sams, a 50lb bag of rice was about 25 bucks. that had gone up a LOT since around 08. 50lb of rice will last one person about 6 months, not counting eating other things.

so, if you get the right stuff...you can easily get enough food for a year for 300 bucks, for more than one person.

now, i agree with the op in that they cannot/will not round everyone up. however, OP you acted as if the fact that some store sold this stuff disproves that possibility completely.

even walmart has a preparedness section now.
