The 7.1 magnitude earthquake in Vanuatu yesterday and the 6.7 magnitude earthquake there today may be analogous to the larger foreshock precursor quakes that led up to the 9.1 magnitude great quake that hit Japan on March 11th of last year.
One thing is certain, together the historical earthquake periodicity and magnitude data that gave rise to the "188-day earthquake cycle" theory is indicative of there being an 8.8 or greater magnitude earthquake somewhere (or several somewheres) in the world before this month is over.
My money is on there being a series of three great quakes over a short period that begins on or around March 21st.
The date of March 21st was chosen because it falls at the end of a 188-day period that began with the 7.3 magnitude quake that occurred in the Fiji region last September 15th.
Here is a full listing of the earthquakes that have occurred that are evidence of there being a 188-day cycle for the occurrence of large to great earthquakes.
Central Chile 8.8 magnitude Feb. 27, 2010
Christchurch, New Zealand 7.1 magnitude Sept. 4, 2010
Great East Japan Earthquake 9.1 magnitude March 11, 2011
Fiji Region 7.3 magnitude Sept. 15, 2011
