Well one could assume that it being down, which is not common the way its set up is to stay up.
And with this new investigation that perhaps yes currently right now they just shut it down.

Im definitely not going to assume its down because their server is down..sites go down all the time from server overload,etc..especially sites like pirate bay that do not have legit funding.

three things could be happening right now.

1. The pirate bay shut down their in site in purpose

2. The pirate bay "got" shut down by authorities

3. The pirate bay is having a server overload again which happens often with sites that do not have a legitimate funding source to provide top notch servers.


Its silly to "assume" things on GLP without a link to back it up... yes im at GLP everyday..i learned this over the years.

I remember a few years ago when Pirate bay was in the headlines of many news sites..they shut down their own servers because they were going over their bandwidthly limit having to pay extra for going over the limit..so they purposely shut down the site temp.

this is why am asking OP for a link which he is not providing which leads me to believe its just speculation on his part.

I personally dont care..but would be nice if posters post a link backing up their posts when it relates to news ..too many times i find BSers here or just kids looking for attention. Not that is what im claiming the OP is doing..there is a good chance the site has been shut down..but then again..there is a good chance the site was purposely shut off temp by Pirate bay themselves for server related issues..as its happened before.

If anything it would probably go UP.

The sites shut down several days ago as they set up backups and moved. They were back up as of 3/17/12 and ping monitors just showed each and every one of their servers go offline at the same exact time.

12:59 am Pacific time.

5:59 am Eastern time.

Swedish police will not confirm but say "Action is being taken."

Only broke assed people pirate cracked BS software copies, they do not impact the bottom line.When I was young and broke I used pirated cracked software all the time and now that I am older and have money I still patronize the newest versions of much of the software I pirated when I was poor.


These greedy blood drinking robber capitalists put out buggy, software all the time and make you wade through a dozen patches and updates before the shit actually works but sometimes charge hundreds of dollars for their stuff?

I can't imagine being poor and saving my pennies for a month to buy some software and then have the crap not work for 3 months of patches and updates.I think this crackdown will hurt the industry and the people who pirate will still wait for years until a version ends up in the 75% off bin before buying it.
