WHOA!! Just had the weirdest experience!! Almost Astral Tripped?!

So basically, I was just dozing on the couch, falling in and out of a light sleep over the course of an hour. I had just woken up from a dream, went to check the time to see how long I had till work, then lay down again. As I was still half-asleep, though not actually very tired at all (its the middle of the day) but in a sleep like mode, as I closed my eyes I already noticed the vague shifting of images from all the static you get when your eyes are closed.

Intuitively, naturally, without second guessing, I tried to bring these images into view, and was met with 2 things:

A massive force against my head that I felt that I was fighting against in order to make the picture clear.

In the blackness a hole opened up, and through the hole for maybe like 5 seconds, I could see a surreal multicoloured town, with giant chunky neon signs spinning rapidly in the sky, some of them passing through each other like they were holograms. Everything was crystal clear like it was life, but it was a fight to view it.
The perspective was as if I was standing on the street looking at the sky. There was writing on the buildings next to me that looked Russian but I couldn't read it or didn't have time to.

It definitely wasn't a dream, nor a lucid dream, as I have had both and I've only found lucid dreams to happen when I've been asleep for a while. So cool, I might try again, by having a 1 hour power nap, then waking up, then closing my eyes and trying it.

It was seriously something I have never experienced before, and I have experienced a lot including a botched awakening that ending in psychosis (of which I am still getting out of).

Thoughts people? Questions? Advice?
