I mean really, will these elitists just hand over more tax dollars to the government and not have a say in where the money will be spent?
Quoting: RedlicoriceRedux None of us should hand over tax money without having a say in how it's spent. It is squandered in Canada on $2M fake lakes, $2B+ on G20, parliamentary fat cats and super prisons for a dropping crime rate. I love my country but I hate my government. Quoting: ExoPoliChick The G20 was nowhere near $2B... More like $800 million to $1 billion and it was out turn to host it. As for the prisons, it's not a glamourous issue and no government really wants to spend money on them, but many of our institutions have decayed to the point that the UN was considering whether or not being confined in one constituted "cruel and unusual punishment." Declining crime or not, there is still crime and if we want to keep people who actually deserve to be behind bars imprisoned longer we need to have the space for them. These two-year sentences for child rape and house arrest for serious offenses have got to stop. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1283316 Where do you get your numbers from? You know in government 'official' figures are always less than actual figures. Legalize and regulate drugs and you have more room for the people who really deserve to be in prison. We don't need more/bigger prisons, we need a better justice system. Quoting: ExoPoliChick Harper is single-handedly injecting the prison industrial complex with steroids by building super prisons for a dropping crime rate, then introducing draconian crime bill legislation to fill those prisons. It's nothing less than one big make work project at the expense of Canadian dollars and freedoms. Harper is a criminal and should be the first inmate registered in one of his lovely new prisons.
