GEOSCIENCE Australia has recalculated the earthquake data and is now reporting a M 6.1 ! magnitude at a depth of ONLY 3 km. This earthquake has to be called VERY DANGEROUS for the people living in the immediate vicinity of the epicenter.

- USGS has calculated that approx. 1,000 people will have experienced a strong shaking (MMI VI) and another 1,000 a moderate MMI V shaking. 3,000 people a light shaking.

USGS says 5.6... yawn

Might be a yawn for you buddy but it's actually a 5.7 and in my lifetime the biggest was a 5.6 You have to remember EQ are as rare as rocking horse shit in this part of the world. so if you think this is no big deal well seriously you need to pull your head out of arse.

PG and the EQ are quite far from each other. What about Uranium mining? Could they cause something like this? And where is the Uranium mine located?

It does appear that the occasional EQ over 5 in that region of Central Oz does occur (I can see about 3 since 1986) but at 6.0 this would be the largest. From what I can tell the region has recorded a total of 10 EQs over 3.0 in the last 26 years. Seems they run along a mountain range called "Blue Rocks", which includes Mount Woodroffe, South Australia's highest peak, at 1,435 metres.
