Warning: Christian viewpoint approaching I'll gladly discuss any viewpoint, but I don't see there being much fun yin it for aethiests. I have no problem with this 188 stuff about earthquakes and end times. People should be talking about it. Then, I started read a thread today about it, which brought many interesting and valid points to the table. Then I saw a date: JULY 19- Jesus returns (I don't recall if he said Jesus, or Christ; knowing glp it was one of those yahushieuhwaeh names we 'go to hell for not 'learning'. Not true.) WHAT?! NO ONE KNOWS!!! Scripture clearly states, NO ONE WILL KNOW! Buggah, I was getting into the thread, too. Matthew 24:36: "But of that day and hour, no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son°, but the Father only. ° Other ancient authorities omit nor the Son, (©1945 Oxford Annotated Bible with the Apocrypha) So, what does this mean? Serious? Read it again: NO ONE KNOWS! I've always entertained this mystery, and pondered why. For one thing, most would wait till the last second to repent. Sadly, this would be human nature, so stop pointing at each other.. No, there's got to be more...I'm missing some- AH! Matthew 24:14: "And this gospel of the Kingdom will be preached throughout the whole world, as a testimony to all nations; and then the end will come  Didn't that Iranian pastor get hanged last month for being....well, for being a Christian pastor? I thought the whole Christian persecution thing happened in Nero's time! (PROTIP: Nero had a giant bull shaped furnace made to burn Christians in. Their screams reverberated through an exit horn, turning their outcries of anguish into a trumpet blast for Nero to get off on. Macabre much?) Maybe things are about to get worse..hold this thought, please. How will the Word reach hidden tribes that scholars haven't even found yet? Look at the trouble Jim Carrey had with the bumblebee tuna tribes in Ace Ventura 2!! My guess to this is that some Christians will be empowered soon...somehow able to present the Truth to even the keepers of shikaka.  Back to the Christian torture thing: Back then, Christians didn't know a day would come, in 1776, that they would have the right to freely worship. A much, much darker place. Now that we do, the shock of a similar scenario would be ALL the more disturbing. He will not give the homeowner such priveliges. The general population does not seem to concern itself much with these things. They are more akin to those who are simply 'eating and drinking'. Going on about life the same today as yesterday and expecting nothing different tomorrow or the day after. However, GLP is an interesting community. It is comprised of people looking for signs and for seasons and taking note of such things and discussing such things. They are unique in that regard. They are looking... They are trying to 'observe the signs and the seasons'. Nevertheless, scripture seems clear. He will come upon the world like a thief in the night.
