If Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant went berserk because of the tsunami/earthquake, whats to say it won't happen again on a bigger scale?

So we all kind of agree that the fukushima " nuclear disaster" happened because of the crappy location and the impact from the earthquake/tsunami.

Now what would happen if an earthquake was to hit CERN while they are doing the never ending tests.

What would happen to us if the machine malfunctioned?

Have they thought about this? I know Switzerland is not known for its earthquakes but with all the earthquakes and events popping up all around the place whose to say it can't happen.

If the "cern machine" malfunctioned, nothing would happen. Period.

Now, on the other hand, an earth impacting solar storm "could" quite easily destroy power grids and lead to massive scale meltdowns all over the world.

America has lots of reactors, so does france, and germany etc etc etc.

Fukushima was a "wake up call"

But the nuclear industry is doing all it can to silence that call, and replace it with there own version.

Thus, we are still living with a time bomb that is just as bad even worse then all out nuclear war.

We need to end nuclear.

But we are not going to, because "we" dont have a say.

I have allready said before, we simply are not going to survive the next 500 years.

Now that fukushima has made us all very aware just how unbeleivably fragile we actually are, I would now have to revise my estimate to around the next fifty years.

Just like global warming (which is VERY real) we need to act NOW, not tommorow, but now. Or its too late.

I actually think that "too late" is where we really are right now.

Im just waiting for god, like everyone else. All the "well off" people are far more worried about their own "security" than the planets.

We have managed to COMPLETELY destroy this planet.

In just a hundred years we have killed off everything, poisoned all the rivers, cut down all the trees, built enough bombs to kill the world a thousand times over (just in case our efforts werent enough) and placed hundreds and hundreds of unbeleivably dangerous and fragile nuclear reactors on earthquake zones all over the world. We dont even tell people when they are leaking, and we cover up reports that are supposed to enable saftey at those same reactors.

If that wasnt enough, we lock people up in jails for decades, and then execute them? we tax the poorest of the poor, and cut back welfare budgets, so we can "look after" the incredibly rich.

We are so far removed from where we really should be, that I am starting to wonder if its all just a joke? or a reality removed? are we even real anymore? I hate this world and just want to go "live" inside a computer game, because the "outside" world just doesnt make sense anymore.

I will roll a joint, play my guitar till my fingers bleed, fire up "skyrim" and zone out.

there is no point even going to work anymore, everday is just another day deeper in debt, and all the while I am slowly but surely being priced out at the supermarket, I cant afford to eat "good" food anymore, just the noodles and baked beans for me. I cant even afford to smoke or drink. the entire world is one crazy fucked up catasrophe waiting to get worse.

I will lock the door, and dim the lights, the outside world frightens me.

Is this the world that was "promised" me? is this how it all ends?

A mad max world on the brink of starvation, with not even hope to comfort the weary.

Oh dear Lord, what comes next? this way, will I even wake up tomorrow? what is the point anymore?

Go on, try and cheer me up, I dare you, just try.

It wont work you know, apart from " GOD " we dont have a chance, from the start to the end, we are fucked.

sigh...........

If an EMP from the sun takes out the power grid...EVERY nuke plant will expode.

it can happen very easily, any time now.
all that needs to happen is for them to
lose control of just one of the critical
control mechanisms that control the reactor,
and a cascade-failure event will ensue that
the operations technicians will not be
able to recover from. then,
walla,
total meldown, at which point you enter the
domain of catastrophic unknowns.

It will.
That's why people who support nuclear power are either the epitome of in denial, or batshit fucking insane...

I'd say they are more dangerous BECAUSE of nukes.
