If this phenomenon is the earth's magnetic field, the first person to write about it it scientifically would become very well known.

I recommend you write an article about this and name and date it, so that the credit can rightfully go to you. Even a blog post should help stake your claim. Maybe you don't have to use your real name either, but make a blog in a pseudonym that you can always claim with your real name later, if you want.

It's great to share your ideas (science doesn't advance when we hoard them, and those with ideas, like you, never run out, so they can never all be 'stolen' from you) but it's a pet peeve of mine when credit for ideas is stolen by undeserving idea-leeches (there are, sadly, many of those). That's why I always encourage anyone with a great idea to claim it, ASAP. Prove you thought of it first with a simple dated document you can lay claim to authoring, then share widely, to refine it, help society, and have society help you find your next great idea. That's science at its best.

Meanwhile I'll look forward to reading about what else you discover/hypothesize. :)

I'd guess that it's showing that our magnetic field is functioning abnormally, myself. We usually don't hear it.

My thoughts exactly. The critic in me say the noise itself isn't all that uncommon and is comparable to any sort of machinery.

Actually someone already has. Forgive my current ignorance to remember my source. Google it and sure you will find as I did. Found it intresting that the reporters outside the US started to take it serious when they found they were reporting on a situaton that was not real despite the hoaxes. One interviewed a gentleman who stated that the sounds were low level electromagnetic waves and that we are only hearing a fraction of it and that it was coming from CMEs or generated from siezmic activity. Now I can not honestly recall if he was the one who mentioned that he didnt know which was causing which. Then back here in the USA we treat these as localized events. Seems our reporters have thier heads in the sand. Does no one ever concidered the big picture instead of acting isolated and stupid?

Fact is these are occuring for real. So are they electromagnetic or siezemic or both. And regardless of what is causing them, doesnt concern anyone that it is hapening globally and no one is adressing it on that scale instead of saying it is a localized event? If it is a natural benign event like the aurora then come out and say so. If it is not then why is it brushed off? Would be nice it is being caused by someone or natural and a precurser to ? Like a dog hearing(?) a quake before you feel it. Needless to say I am disapointed to how our scientifc comunity is handling this.
