Subject 7.1 earthquake in MAULE, CHILE and no aftershocks - what is going on?

There was a 7.1 earthquake in MAULE, CHILE depth of 34.8km 12 hours ago
but still no aftershocks. Does anyone know if it's normal to have such a strong earthquake with no aftershocks? Or does this mean it is a precursor to a larger earthquake?
