Verizon servers down Upstate NY - anybody else?

Costing businesses $$$.

yep.. lost mine or an hour about 1 am. It was slow last evening before it went out.. When it came back.. it was full speed..

one company has no computers or phone is NINE different cities because server is located in affected area.

My connection has been DRAGGING all morning. Connections have been really crappy lately.

I think for what they charge, service should be top notch, but actually sucks eggs.

btw, many businesses using Verizon services CLOSED in many cities across this region. And no, it wasn't in the news because the news doesn't cover everything it should.

Phone, web service cut to many in area


— A severed fiber optic cable was to blame for a widespread cut in phone and internet service in the region Sunday.


Residential and business customers were affected by the “extensive” interruption, according to the answering service. It was first reported early Sunday afternoon.

I work for Verizon FiOS tech support, but I dont serve the NY State area.

I do know there was a statewide outage for video service in PA since last Friday night and I heard rumors that a similar outage was happening in NY...

But that was on Monday....I had yesterday and today off. Another large outage?

Damn. That means more irate people to deal with all day long.

I wish Verizon would tell us what causes the outages. All day long on Sat, Sun, and Monday I couldnt give an explanation for everyone in PA about the outage because I had no idea myself.

I don't know about the Verizon servers today, but I do know Monday phone services (primarily for businesses) for a good chunk of the Southern Tier area of Upstate NY were down for the same reason. I'll see if I can snag the article talking about it.

I live in Northern NM, Taos county to be exact. Our Verizon phones were out last weekend for 17 hours. Practically shut us down, business was on a cash only basis, as for some reason debit and credit card transactions were not going through and ATMs were down.

Strangely we were given the same excuse. Supposedly a fiber optic line had been cut..

Things that make me go....hmmmmmmmm
