Why the Bible is NOT the Word of God
Read the following scriptural references before commenting just based on the subject title:

1.John 5:37-40
You have neither heard the Father's voice nor seen his form.
But you do not have His word abiding in you, because whom He sent, Him you do not believe.
You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me.
But you are not willing to come to me that you may have life.

Here Jesus makes a clear distinction between the word of God, and the Scriptures.
Jesus speaks of His word abiding in you.
Paul said: "The word is near you, even in your mouth, and in your heart [so you may obey it]; that is, the word of faith, which we preach. " Rom 10:8. Where is the word again?
It is not in heaven, that you should say, 'Who shall go up for us to heaven, and bring it to us, that we may hear it, and do it?'
Neither is it beyond the sea, that you should say, 'Who shall go over the sea for us, and bring it to us, that we may hear it, and do it?' But the word is very near to you, in your mouth, and in your heart, so that you may obey it. Deu 30:11-14.

2.John 6:63
The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life-giving.

3.Luke 8:11...14-15
The seed is the Word of God.
And that [seed] which fell among thorns are they, which, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection. But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.

To bring forth fruit to perfection does no come from Bible study. Millions study the Bible every day and bring forth no fruit. But is you listen to the Spirit of God and obey his commands to you, you will eventually produce the fruit of the Spirit: love, peace, joy, gentleness, kindness, patience, faith, humility; which comes to those whose obedience to the commands heard spoken to them crucify their sinful nature's passions and pleasures.

4.1 John 5:7
there are three that bear witness in heaven: the Father, the Word, [this is Jesus, not the Bible] and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one.

5.1 John 2:5
But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God is perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him. 1 John 2:5.
Whoever keeps his word (is obedient to commands, practices his teachings), the love of God is perfected in him. If there is one word that sums up the Bible, it is obedience. True faith leads to obedience. Obedience leads to the restoration of man to the image of God, and then to union with Christ and God. You are in Christ if the love of God has been perfected in you. If not, you can say you are in Christ, but it is a lie.

6.Gen 15:1
After this, the word of the LORD came to Abram in a vision: "Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your very great reward. [This was before the scriptures were written down]

Notice! To hear the word of the Lord is revelation from God; you hear in your heart.

9. 2 Samuel 22:31
"As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the LORD is flawless. He is a shield for all who take refuge in him.

10.2 Sam 24:11-12
Before David got up the next morning, the word of the LORD had come to Gad the prophet, David's seer: "Go and tell David, 'This is what the LORD says: I am giving you three options. Choose one of them for me to carry out against you.' "

11.1 Kings 8:26
And now, O God of Israel, let your word that you promised your servant David my father come true.
God did not promise David anything by scripture; but the Lord did promise David by speaking to him. The word is not scripture.

12.1 Kings 12:22-24
But this word of God came to Shemaiah the man of God: "Say to Rehoboam son of Solomon king of Judah, to the whole house of Judah and Benjamin, and to the rest of the people, 'This is what the LORD says: Do not go up to fight against your brothers, the Israelites. Go home, every one of you, for this is my doing.' " So they obeyed the word of the LORD and went home again, as the LORD had ordered.
(Scripture did not come to Shemaiah; the Lord spoke to Shemaiah. Scripture is not the word of God.)

13.1 Kings 13:1
By the word of the LORD a man of God came from Judah to Bethel, as Jeroboam was standing by the altar to make an offering.

16.1 Kings 13:26
When the prophet who had brought him back from his journey heard of it, he said, "It is the man of God who defied the word of the LORD. The LORD has given him over to the lion, which has mauled him and killed him, as the word of the LORD had warned him."

17.1 Kings 17:24
Then the woman said to Elijah, "Now I know that you are a man of God and that the word of the LORD from your mouth is the truth."

Elijah did not speak by quoting scripture. He spoke as he heard the Word of the Lord within his heart.

18.2 Kings 14:25
He was the one who restored the boundaries of Israel from Lebo Hamath to the Sea of the Arabah, in accordance with the word of the LORD, the God of Israel, spoken through his servant Jonah son of Amittai, the prophet from Gath Hepher.

19.2 Kings 23:16
Then Josiah looked around, and when he saw the tombs that were there on the hillside, he had the bones removed from them and burned on the altar to defile it, in accordance with the word of the LORD proclaimed by the man of God who foretold these things.

20.1 Chronicles 15:15
And the Levites carried the ark of God with the poles on their shoulders, as Moses had commanded in accordance with the word of the LORD.

21.1 Chronicles 17:3-4
That night the word of God came to Nathan, saying: "Go and tell my servant David, 'This is what the LORD says: You are not the one to build me a house to dwell in.

Nathan heard the word of God in his heart tell him what to do.

22.Mat4:4
Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.

And man hears that word of God, from the mouth of God, in that man's heart.

23.2 Chronicles 6:17
And now, O LORD, God of Israel, let your word that you promised your servant David come true.

24.2 Chronicles 10:15
So the king did not listen to the people, for this turn of events was from God, to fulfill the word the LORD had spoken to Jeroboam son of Nebat through Ahijah the Shilonite.

25.2 Chronicles 11:2-4
But this word of the LORD came to Shemaiah the man of God: "Say to Rehoboam son of Solomon king of Judah and to all the Israelites in Judah and Benjamin, 'This is what the LORD says: Do not go up to fight against your brothers. Go home, every one of you, for this is my doing.' " So they obeyed the words of the LORD and turned back from marching against Jeroboam.

26.2 Chronicles 30:12
Also in Judah the hand of God was on the people to give them unity of mind to carry out what the king and his officials had ordered, following the word of the LORD.

27.2 Chronicles 36:12
He did evil in the eyes of the LORD his God and did not humble himself before Jeremiah the prophet, who spoke the word of the LORD.

28.2 Chronicles 36:15
The LORD, the God of their fathers, sent word to them through his messengers again and again, because he had pity on his people and on his dwelling place.

29.Psalm 18:30

Notice! You are to hear the good news of you salvation to come, spoken from the mouth of God, which you hear in your heart. You hear that good news when you receive the seal of the Spirit, which is the down payment of the final salvation, when Christ becomes your true ruler and king.

32.Isaiah 40:8
The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God stands forever."

The word of the LORD came to me: "What do you see, Jeremiah?" "I see the branch of an almond tree," I replied. The LORD said to me, "You have seen correctly, for I am watching to see that my word is fulfilled." The word of the LORD came to me again: "What do you see?" "I see a boiling pot, tilting away from the north," I answered.

35.Jeremiah 2:1-4
The word of the LORD came to me: "Go and proclaim in the hearing of Jerusalem: " 'I remember the devotion of your youth,
how as a bride you loved me and followed me through the desert, through a land not sown. Israel was holy to the LORD, the first fruits of his harvest; all who devoured her were held guilty, and disaster overtook them,' " declares the LORD. Hear the word of the LORD, O house of Jacob, all you clans of the house of Israel. This is what the LORD says:

36.Jeremiah 6:9-10

then hear the word of the LORD, O remnant of Judah. This is what the LORD Almighty, the God of Israel, says:

This is the word of the LORD concerning Israel. The LORD, who stretches out the heavens, who lays the foundation of the earth, and who forms the spirit of man within him, declares:

44.Mark 7:13
Thus you nullify the word of God by your tradition that you have handed down. And you do many things like that."

45.Luke 3:2
during the high priesthood of Annas and Caiaphas, the word of God came to John son of Zechariah in the desert.

46.Luke 5:1
One day as Jesus was standing by the Lake of Gennesaret, with the people crowding around him and listening to the word of God,

47.Luke 8:11
"This is the meaning of the parable: The seed is the word of God.

48.Luke 11:28
He replied, "Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it."

49.John 5:37-40
You have neither heard His [the Father's] voice at any time, nor seen his form.
And you do not have His word abiding in you; for you do not believe him whom he has sent.
You search the scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are those that testify of me.
But you will not come to me, that you might have life.
(Here Jesus makes a clear distinction between the word of God, and the Scriptures.
Jesus speaks of His word abiding in you. The word is near you, even in your mouth, and in your heart. Rom 10:8)

50.Daniel 9:2
in the first year of his reign, I, Daniel, understood from the Scriptures, according to the word of the LORD given to Jeremiah the prophet, that the desolation of Jerusalem would last seventy years.
(As seen here, the scriptures and the word of the Lord are different; the Bible is not the Word of God. )

51.John 1:1
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
(The Word is God, not the Bible!)

52.John 1:14
The Word became flesh and made his dwelling in us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. (This word is clearly not the Bible.)

53.Revelation 19:13
He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and his name [Jesus' name] is the Word of God.
[So Jesus, and his Spirit, is the Word of God, not the Bible!]

54.Heb 11:3
Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear. To think the Bible framed the worlds is ridiculous.

55.Hebrews 4:12
For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.
[In the beginning was the word, and the word was God. John 1:1. And he was clothed with a garment dipped in blood; and his name is called The Word of God...And he has on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS. Rev 19:13,16. I am he who searches the minds and the hearts. Jer 17:10, Rev 2:23. He (Jesus) who searches the hearts, knows what is the mind of the Spirit because he makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God. Rom 8:27.]
[The Bible is not living and active, but the Spirit is living], but the words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life-giving. John 6:63
The Bible cannot judge your heart; but the Spirit of Christ, the Word of God, can and does!

And out of his mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: Rev 19:15.
Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Eph 6:17
So, the sword of the spirit is not the Bible, it is the spoken words from the mouth by the Spirit of Christ in a son!!!

56.Jer 23:28-32
Let the prophet who has a dream tell his dream, but let the one who has my word speak it faithfully. For what has straw to do with grain?" declares the LORD.
"Is not my word like fire," declares the LORD, "and like a hammer that breaks a rock in pieces?
"Therefore," declares the LORD, "I am against the prophets who steal from one another words supposedly from me.
Yes," declares the LORD, "I am against the prophets who wag their own tongues and yet declare, 'The LORD declares.'

57.John 6:63
It is the spirit that quickens; the flesh profits nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

Now look at the Apostles references to the Word, and remember, the Bible wasn't even printed until 1516. So, the early church thrived in Spirit and power without the Bible. So, the Bible can't be the Word of God. The below references are not to the Bible or Scriptures.

1.1 Cor 2:13
This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom,
but in words taught by the Spirit, expressing spiritual truths in spiritual words.

2.Romans 10:8
But what does it say? "The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart," that is, the word of faith we are proclaiming.

3.Rom 10:17
So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
Remember, Paul tells us in Rom 10:8, the word is near you, even in your mouth, and in your heart, that is, the word of faith, which we preach, which referred to Deuteronomy:

If you will listen to and heed the voice of the LORD your God, to keep his commandments and his statutes which are written in this book of the law,
and if you turn to the LORD your God with all your heart, and with all your soul.
For this command which I command you this day is not hidden from you, nor is it far off.
It is not in heaven, that you should say, 'Who shall go up for us to heaven, and bring it to us, that we may hear it, and do it?'
Neither is it beyond the sea, that you should say, 'Who shall go over the sea for us, and bring it to us, that we may hear it, and do it?'
But the word is very near to you, in your mouth, and in your heart, so that you may obey it. Deu 30:10-14

So faith is hearing the word of Christ from within your heart, and recognizing it as the Spirit of God speaking to you, or Christ speaking to you; and believing it enough to obey. Thus to believe is: to believe, [trust, depend on, obey] on the word, Christ, heard in your heart. Blessed are those who hear the word of God and keep [practice, obey] it. Christendom would have you believe that hearing someone read the words of the Bible is hearing the word of God, and if you believe them, you are a "believer." But this only results in belief in a book and faith in the words in a book. Yet Paul has just told us that faith comes from hearing the word, which word is in our hearts; so to have real faith, you must hear Christ from within your heart and believe whom you hear, to be the Son of God; and believe enough to completely obey him.

Then, not a book about Jesus, but Jesus himself is the source and author of your faith: true faith, of which Jesus is the author and finisher of our faith, Heb 12:2. By obedience to the word, Jesus, you have faith: For Jesus became the Author and Source of eternal salvation to all those who give heed and obey Him. Heb 5:9. To believe is to obey. Obedience leads to salvation. Obedience leads to righteousness.

4.Acts 4:31
After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly. (These people spoke the Word of God from the Holy Spirit within them.)
5.Acts 5:19-20
But the angel of the Lord by night opened the prison doors, and brought them forth, and said, Go, stand and speak in the temple to the people all the words of this life.

6.Acts 6:2
So the Twelve gathered all the disciples together and said, "It would not be right for us to neglect the ministry of the word of God in order to wait on tables.

7.Acts 6:7
So the word of God spread. The number of disciples in Jerusalem increased rapidly, and a large number of priests became obedient to the faith.

8.Acts 8:14
When the apostles in Jerusalem heard that Samaria had accepted the word of God, they sent Peter and John to them.
9.Acts 8:25
When they had testified and proclaimed the word of the Lord, Peter and John returned to Jerusalem, preaching the gospel in many Samaritan villages

10.Acts 11:1
The apostles and the brothers throughout Judea heard that the Gentiles also had received the word of God.

11.Acts 12:24
But the word of God continued to increase and spread. (there were no Bibles to hand out)

12.Acts 13:5
When they arrived at Salamis, they proclaimed the word of God in the Jewish synagogues. John was with them as their helper.

13.Acts 13:7
who was an attendant of the proconsul, Sergius Paulus. The proconsul, an intelligent man, sent for Barnabas and Saul because he wanted to hear the word of God.

14.Acts 13:46
Then Paul and Barnabas answered them boldly: "We had to speak the word of God to you first. Since you reject it and do not consider yourselves worthy of eternal life, we now turn to the Gentiles.
15.Acts 13:44
On the next Sabbath almost the whole city gathered to hear the word of the Lord.
16.Acts 13:48
When the Gentiles heard this, they were glad and honored the word of the Lord; and all who were appointed for eternal life believed.
17.Acts 15:35-36
But Paul and Barnabas remained in Antioch, where they and many others taught and preached the word of the Lord. Some time later Paul said to Barnabas, "Let us go back and visit the brothers in all the towns where we preached the word of the Lord and see how they are doing."

18.Acts 17:13
When the jewish people in Thessalonica learned that Paul was preaching the word of God at Berea, they went there too, agitating the crowds and stirring them up.

19.Acts 18:11
So Paul stayed for a year and a half, teaching them the word of God.
20.Acts 19:10
This went on for two years, so that all the jewish people and Greeks who lived in the province of Asia heard the word of the Lord.
21.Acts 19:20
In this way the word of the Lord spread widely and grew in power.

22.Acts 20:32
"Now I commit you to God and to the word of his grace, which can build you up and give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified.
23.Acts 22:14
And he said, The God of our forefathers has destined and appointed you to come progressively to know His will [to perceive, to recognize more strongly and clearly, and to become better and more intimately acquainted with His will], and to see the Righteous One (Jesus Christ, the Messiah), and to hear a voice from His own mouth and a message from His own lips.

24.1 Corinthians 14:36
Did the word of God originate with you? Or are you the only people it has reached?

25.2 Corinthians 2:17
Unlike so many, we do not peddle the word of God for profit. On the contrary, in Christ we speak before God with sincerity, like men sent from God.

26.2 Corinthians 4:2
Rather, we have renounced secret and shameful ways; we do not use deception, nor do we distort the word of God. On the contrary, by setting forth the truth plainly we commend ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God.

27.Ephesians 6:17
Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
And a sword will pierce through your own soul also--that the secret thoughts and purposes of many hearts may be brought out and disclosed. Luke 2:35. Repent; or else I will come to you quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth. Rev 2:16. And out of his mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: Rev 19:15.
So, the sword of the spirit is not the Bible, it is the spoken words from the mouth by the Spirit of Christ, the Word of God.

28. James 1:21
Receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls. The engrafted word is what you hear, receive, and obey; thus His words with life are engrafted into your heart

29.Philippians 1:14
Because of my chains, most of the brothers in the Lord have been encouraged to speak the word of God more courageously and fearlessly.

30.Colossians 1:25
I have become its servant by the commission God gave me to present to you the word of God in its fullness.

31.Colossians 3:16
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God.

32.1 Thessalonians 2:13
And we also thank God continually because, when you received the word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word of men, but as it actually is, the word of God, which is at work in you who believe.

33.1 Timothy 4:5
because it is consecrated by the word of God and prayer.

34.2 Timothy 2:15
Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

35.Titus 1:3
and at his appointed season he brought his word to light through the preaching entrusted to me by the command of God our Savior.

36.Hebrews 6:5
who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the coming age.

37.Hebrews 13:7
Remember your leaders, who spoke the word of God to you. Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith.

38.James 1:22-24
Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says, is like a man who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like.

39.1 Peter 1:23,25
For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God.
(You cannot be born again by scripture, reading or hearing it read; but you can be born again by the Spirit, as you respond to hearing an obeying Spirit, or the word of God within your heart. )

But the word of the Lord endures forever." And this is the word [the word in your heart] by which the gospel is preached to you.
The gospel is not preached to you by a book of scriptures. The gospel was preached to Abraham by the Lord, and Abraham was before any scripture had been written. The Spirit of Christ, the Word of God, lives, lasts, and endures forever. The gospel was preached (past tense) in every creature under the heaven. Col 1:27. Christ preaches the gospel to every man, as the Spirit, the Word of God, in a man's heart speaks to him.

40.2 Peter 3:5
But they deliberately forget that long ago by God's word the heavens existed and the earth was formed.
(The Bible did not create the heavens and earth, but the Spirit of Christ, the Word of God did create it all.)

41.1 John 1:1
That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked at and our hands have touched—this we proclaim concerning the Word of life.

42.1 John 2:5
But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God is perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him.

43.1 John 2:14
I write to you, fathers, because you have known him who is from the beginning. I write to you, young men, because you are strong, and the word of God lives in you, and you have overcome the evil one.
(Scripture does not live in anyone, but the Word of God, the Spirit of Christ, is in your heart to hear and obey.)

44.Revelation 1:2
who testifies to everything he saw—that is, the word of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ.

45.Revelation 1:9
I, John, your brother and companion in the suffering and kingdom and patient endurance that are ours in Jesus, was on the island of Patmos because of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus.
(Obviously reading scripture did not cause John to be placed on the island of Patmos, but because he preached the word of God as he heard it revealed to him, and because he prophesied (the spirit of prophecy is the testimony of Jesus), he was banished to Patmos.

46.Revelation 6:9
When he opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain because of the word of God and the testimony they had maintained.

47.Revelation 20:4
I saw thrones on which were seated those who had been given authority to judge. And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony for Jesus and because of the word of God. They had not worshiped the beast or his image and had not received his mark on their foreheads or their hands. They came to life and reigned with Christ a thousand years.

48.Revelation 19:12-16
His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself.
And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.
And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.
And out of his mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.
And he has on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.

Re: Why the Bible is NOT the Word of God
The Bible is the written record (logos) of the True Word of God. It becomes alive (rhema) in one's heart after one accepts it in faith. It becomes incorruptible in our hearts.

Re: Why the Bible is NOT the Word of God
The Bible is the written record (logos) of the True Word of God. It becomes alive (rhema) in one's heart after one accepts it in faith. It becomes incorruptible in our hearts.
 Quoting: Petrus

Jesus died in India at 80 yrs old

he had a wife named Marjan
and a son named Eli Kim.

Srinagar India was a refuge for
one of the lost tribes of Israel.
This is where his tomb is.

God does not lie.

The Bible contradicts itself
in many locations.

God does not contradict himself.

but man does
thus, the Bible is a work of men.

Re: Why the Bible is NOT the Word of God
The Bible is scripture. Jesus is the Word of God. See: John 1:1-14. Calling the Bible "the Word of God" is like saying that In the beginning was the bible and the bible became flesh and dwelt among us.

The Bible was written by men who were inspired by the Word of God. It contains words of God. But if you read the list of scriptural references in the original post you'll understand that there is a difference between the Bible and the Word of God. Read the post first before commenting.

You're still not reading the post. Scripture is true. The Bible is scripture. Scripture calls Jesus the Word of God. Jesus calls the bible scriptures. The bible is not called "the word of God" even though it does contain God's words as spoken through the prophets and apostles. Is that too hard to understand? I'm not saying the scripture or the bible is false. Put John 1:1 in context and you'll know it's not talking about the Bible right there. Same with Revelation 19:13 - He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and his name [Jesus' name] is the Word of God.
[So Jesus, and his Spirit, is the Word of God, not the Bible!]

Re: Why the Bible is NOT the Word of God

7.Gen 15:4
Then the word of the LORD came to him: "This man will not be your heir, but a son coming from your own body will be your heir."

8.1 Sam 3:7
Now Samuel did not yet know the LORD : The word of the LORD had not yet been revealed to him.

14.1 Kings 13:5
Also, the altar was split apart and its ashes poured out according to the sign given by the man of God by the word of the LORD.

15.1 Kings 13:21
He cried out to the man of God who had come from Judah, "This is what the LORD says: 'You have defied the word of the LORD and have not kept the command the LORD your God gave you.

As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the LORD is flawless. He is a shield for all who take refuge in him.

33.Isaiah 50:10
Who among you fears the LORD and obeys the word of his servant? Let him who walks in the dark, who has no light, trust in the name of the LORD and rely on his God.

34.Jeremiah 1:11-13

This is what the LORD Almighty says: ... To whom can I speak and give warning? Who will listen to me? Their ears are closed so they cannot hear. The word of the LORD is offensive to them; they find no pleasure in it.

40.Jeremiah 23:36
But you must not mention 'the oracle of the LORD ' again, because every man's own word becomes his oracle and so you distort the words of the living God, the LORD Almighty, our God.

41.Jeremiah 42:15
then hear the word of the LORD, O remnant of Judah. This is what the LORD Almighty, the God of Israel, says:

42.Hosea 4:1
Hear the word of the LORD, you Israelites, because the LORD has a charge to bring against you who live in the land: "There is no faithfulness, no love, no acknowledgment of God in the land.

43.Zechariah 12:1

It is clear that Christ himself wrote this letter and sent it by us. It is written, not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, and not on stone tablets but on human hearts. We say this because we have confidence in God through Christ. There is nothing in us that allows us to claim that we are capable of doing this work. The capacity we have comes from God; it is he who made us capable of serving the new covenant, which consists not of a written law but of the Spirit. The written law brings death, but the Spirit gives life. The Law was carved in letters on stone tablets, and God's glory appeared when it was given. Even though the brightness on Moses' face was fading, it was so strong that the people of Israel could not keep their eyes fixed on him. If the Law, which brings death when it is in force, came with such glory, how much greater is the glory that belongs to the activity of the Spirit!

Re: Why the Bible is NOT the Word of God
Yes. Reading the original post in its entirety, shows that Jesus Christ is the Word of God and the bible is scriptures which were inspired by the Word of God, revealing the Word of God. The bible (scriptures) are not equal to Jesus Christ himself. The bible did not frame the worlds and is not the Word made flesh. The Bible is true. Just not the same in essence as the Word of God.

Re: Why the Bible is NOT the Word of God
G-d needs no one book for we are it and all is played out through us.

The Bible is King James'..as it says on the cover.

G-d has no use for Kings.
The thing that hath been,
is That which shall be;
and that which is done is that which shall be done:and there is no new thing under the Sun.

John 5:39 - Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. And ye will not come to me the ye might have life.

Looks here like Jesus Himself is putting the scriptures in their proper place...

The letter kills but the spirit gives life. The Word of God is spirit. The bible was written by men who were inspired by the spirit(Word) of God.

God does not lie.

The Bible contradicts itself
in many locations.

God does not contradict himself.

but man does
thus, the Bible is a work of men.

Re: Why the Bible is NOT the Word of God

7.Gen 15:4
Then the word of the LORD came to him: "This man will not be your heir, but a son coming from your own body will be your heir."

8.1 Sam 3:7
Now Samuel did not yet know the LORD : The word of the LORD had not yet been revealed to him.

14.1 Kings 13:5
Also, the altar was split apart and its ashes poured out according to the sign given by the man of God by the word of the LORD.

He cried out to the man of God who had come from Judah, "This is what the LORD says: 'You have defied the word of the LORD and have not kept the command the LORD your God gave you.

As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the LORD is flawless. He is a shield for all who take refuge in him.

33.Isaiah 50:10
Who among you fears the LORD and obeys the word of his servant? Let him who walks in the dark, who has no light, trust in the name of the LORD and rely on his God.

34.Jeremiah 1:11-13

This is what the LORD Almighty says: ... To whom can I speak and give warning? Who will listen to me? Their ears are closed so they cannot hear. The word of the LORD is offensive to them; they find no pleasure in it.

39.Jeremiah 21:1
The word came to Jeremiah from the LORD when King Zedekiah sent to him Pashhur son of Malkijah and the priest Zephaniah son of Maaseiah. They said:

1 But these took this counsel among themselves, that they would leave the multitude of the heathen, and go forth into a further country, where never mankind dwelt,
42 That they might there keep their statutes, which they never kept in their own land.
43 And they entered into Euphrates by the narrow places of the river.
44 For the most High then shewed signs for them, and held still the flood, till they were passed over.
45 For through that country there was a great way to go, namely, of a year and a half: and the same region is called Arsareth.
46 Then dwelt they there until the latter time; and now when they shall begin to come,

Re: Why the Bible is NOT the Word of God
Jesus and writers of the Christian Greek Scriptures referred to the collection of sacred writings as “the Scriptures,” or “the holy Scriptures,” “the holy writings.”

(Matthew 21:42) Jesus said to them: “Did YOU never read in the Scriptures, ‘The stone that the builders rejected is the one that has become the chief cornerstone. From Jehovah this has come to be, and it is marvelous in our eyes’?
(Mark 14:49) Day after day I was with YOU in the temple teaching, and yet YOU did not take me into custody. Nevertheless, it is in order that the Scriptures may be fulfilled.”
(Luke 24:32) And they said to each other: “Were not our hearts burning as he was speaking to us on the road, as he was fully opening up the Scriptures to us?”
(John 5:39) “YOU are searching the Scriptures, because YOU think that by means of them YOU will have everlasting life; and these are the very ones that bear witness about me.
(Acts 18:24) Now a certain jewish named A·pol′los, a native of Alexandria, an eloquent man, arrived in Eph′e·sus; and he was well versed in the Scriptures.
(Romans 1:2) which he promised aforetime through his prophets in the holy Scriptures,
(Romans 15:4) For all the things that were written aforetime were written for our instruction, that through our endurance and through the comfort from the Scriptures we might have hope.
(2 Timothy 3:15, 16) and that from infancy you have known the holy writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through the faith in connection with Christ Jesus. 16 All Scripture is inspired of God and beneficial for teaching, for reproving, for setting things straight, for disciplining in righteousness,

14 The Bible is unique because of the claim made by many of its writers. Some 40 individuals, including kings, shepherds, fishermen, civil servants, priests, at least one general, and a physician, had a hand in writing the different parts of the Bible. But time and again, the writers made the same claim: that they were writing not their own thoughts but God’s.
15 Thus, in the Bible we often read expressions such as: “The spirit of Jehovah it was that spoke by me, and his word was upon my tongue” or, “This is what the Sovereign Lord, Jehovah of armies, has said.” (2 Samuel 23:2; Isaiah 22:15) In a letter sent to a fellow evangelizer, the apostle Paul wrote: “All Scripture is inspired of God and beneficial for teaching, for reproving, for setting things straight, for disciplining in righteousness, that the man of God may be fully competent, completely equipped for every good work.”—2 Timothy 3:16, 17.
16 In harmony with the claim that it is God’s word, not man’s, the Bible answers questions that only God can answer. It explains, for example, why human governments have not been able to bring lasting peace, how humans can find the deepest satisfaction in life, and what the future holds for the earth and mankind upon it. Now, as a thinking person, you must have wondered about these and similar questions many times. Why not at least consider the possibility that the Bible is God’s Word and thus uniquely able to give authoritative answers?

Re: Why the Bible is NOT the Word of God
The Bible was written by man inspired by God. The scriptures you quote about them nopt hearing Gods voice, where to the Sanhedrin and Pharissees. Beacuse they did not listen to God. Teh first set of the ten commandments were indeed written by Gods own finger. Moses smashed them after he got mad at the people. God made Moses write the second set himself.

Re: Why the Bible is NOT the Word of God
I AGREE WITH YOU.... COMPLETELY.

The "word of God" equals in my mind hearing, not reading

"The word of the Lord" "The scriptures" can become a fresh word to you, but, we can not use the terms "The word" and "the bible" interchangeably.

The point I'm making is, there is a lot written in the NT about hearing, hardly anything about reading.

Everything written in the bible was spoken, before it was written. Genesis was spoken, then written by Moses.

We must come to a common denominator, for people to receive Christ, the message, or to experience Christianity, and it can not be the bible. WHY? Because the printing press is a fairly new invention, and many people throughout the ages couldn't read. This is true not only in the times of Christ, but in the dark ages.

Still I love the scriptures, and they are true, they are God inspired. They have just been elevated to a place where they have taken the place of God, in many circles today.

As far as people studying "The word" vs studying "The scriptures"

I see a big difference between the two. One is heard, one is read. Many can read, few can hear. One is always spoken, and one is written, but can be made alive to you, and become a spoken word.

Thus we have interchanged the two, elevating "The bible" above God, and the leading of the Spirit, and "The Word"…

I wonder, could we say that we love the scriptures, and that they are inspired, but God never meant for us to live by them, but instead by the Spirit of promise, leading us into all truth?

We would have two types of church. Those led by the Spirit, and those seeing and leading only on "The book".

I think God is separating HIS people "The Ecclesia from this thing called church, which is churchianity.

He is building his kingdom, it is on the inside. That is what Jesus says.

There is no way for light and darkness to fellowship together, and there is NO way all those people in all these churches are truly born again via an encounter with Christ. That encounter must take place...

So there is no way they can fellowship with one another. You might as well go to a Safeway store and try and do church with all the people there.

God's word is true.

The word and the bible are NOT necessarily the same thing. Today we use the terms "The Word" and "The Bible" as if they are always the same thing. The scriptures can become alive to you, and they are true, but without God, making them real and alive to you, or giving revelation of truth to you, you are sunk. Although the bible is true, it just has no life apart from God... What God can and does do is impart life to you from the scriptures.

We see this all throughout the OT and NT... In the OT, it was "the word of the Lord came unto so Jeremiah". In the NT, it was "Peter rise and eat".

Today the so-called church has defined Christianity by "The Book". Why? Because they can control that, via their so-called doctrines, preaching, and one man shows. They have refused for the longest time to let "THE BODY" minister to one another as the Spirit leads.

But once you accept the truth that God's word can be from the scriptures, but not solely from the scriptures, then you find yourself saying "Speak Lord, here am I"...He may speak by His Spirit, by The Scriptures, or by His still small voice.

History proves this to be true along with the scriptures quoted above...

History shows us, the dark ages, when there was no printing press, and people couldn't read or write. Yet we know there were some people who KNEW Christ, there was Madam Guyon, and Jean Nicholas Grou, just to name a two.

Then of course the disciples couldn't read, but they had the living word, became flesh which was Christ. They lived by every word that proceeded out of the mouth of God, as should we...Jesus speaks of hearing much more than reading. He also condemns the Pharisees for looking to the Torah, BUT not being willing to come to Him, the word of life.

And so change is coming, we will see it soon, and when it happens, it will rip this so-called Christianity from the hands of these corrupt churches and there doctrines will become invalid. Overnight their religious live will become irrelevant, as we see the body of Christ manifest in our.

Paul had a moral failure / A thorn in the flesh...To keep him humble!
I believe Paul had a moral failure.

It was NOT bad eye site, that humbled him...How could it, but if he failed morally somehow, this would explain Romans 6-8.

Imagine...
God says to you, "I need you humble", "I'm going to give you bad eye sight"..."NO!" "I'm going to brake your arm."

YOU, Protest, God, How will a broken arm keep me humble?

BUT IF YOU FAIL, YOU SIN (or think you sin)...And your heart cries to God for relief, and God says "My grace is sufficient for you"...Do you not then find yourself going through Romans 6-8 in your own personal life?

Does Romans equal a road map to us, as the ten commandments were a road map to grace, offered in the NT?

The Bible is scripture. Jesus is the Word of God. See: John 1:1-14. Calling the Bible "the Word of God" is like saying that In the beginning was the bible and the bible became flesh and dwelt among us.

The Bible was written by men who were inspired by the Word of God. It contains words of God. But if you read the list of scriptural references in the original post you'll understand that there is a difference between the Bible and the Word of God. Read the post first before commenting.
