Everyone wants a slice of the same pie, so games that should be half what they cost now cost twice as much. Cartridge games used to be $60 and were harder to program for since they needed more memory tricks to fit everything in it, and to be able to draw it on the screen. Consoles these days are easier to develop for, and use much longer lasting technology.
