I agree, I still have fond memories of playing Pirates! Gold on the NES and plotting my course with the included map.
More recently, I've found the instruction booklet quite useful for remembering the commands in games like Mass Effect.
I believe it's been proven that consumers like to have something physical when they pay for something. The exception being things like apps.
Quoting: Anonymous Coward 4104666 Yup yup Apps are an interesting phenomenon. Considering I beat the new Angry Birds in like 6 hours and I'm months into Skyrim with barely a dent made...I think the need for solid material is non-existant. Plus, most apps are like 99 cents or FREE...so, I'm not expecting too much. But 60 bucks!? ...They better give me a goddamn map... Quoting: -GooGooFlexy- My thoughts exactly. At least a poster or something.
