Do any of them deserve imprisonment?

Many of them deserve a long-ago execution.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 4934354

Some do...but my job on this planet is to not act as if I'm the judge, jury, and executioner. I would suggest the same for you and have a little empathy for the ones who don't deserve to be there.
 Quoting: Sgt. Stedanko

So you are judge and jury then...

How much empathy do you have for the families of murder victims?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 4934354
"So you are judge and jury then..." putin I have tremendous sorrow and empathy for the victims of crimes. However, that is not what this thread is about. It's about the senseless imprisonment of citizens. It's about profiting off of citizens.

Most murderers, rapists, armed robbers and habitual criminals should be executed.

Less criminals, less crime, and not imprisoned. Would you approve?

Or is your only point dope?

I've heard that a million times in the last 20 years and it is total bullshit.

It is only because of the ridiculously protracted and expensive legal process as it now stands.

For cases where there is little or no doubt and little or no reason for any significant delay, prompt execution is cheap and doesn't even remotely compare to the cost of keeping a worthless piece of shit housed, clothed and fed and in the process of repeated appeals.

Tell someone else, dumbass.

I'll call BS here! Lethal injection drugs only cost so much. Keeping a 17 year old incarcerated for life would cost over $1 million.
If you're talking about appeals and more appeals, then I could understand your argument. But sticking a needle in somebody and running a lethal cocktail isn't that expensive at all.
The reason for such a long process between guilty and death is...the bond! A death sentence is good for at least a 10 year bond!

militarizedpolic

<Snip>

America which is known as the freest country in the world has incarcerated more of it's citizens than the rest of the world combined. 7.1 million Americans are either in prison, on probation or under correctional supervision. The numbers continue to climb each year as more prisons are built nationwide. News journalist Fareed Zakaria from CNN goes in depth to show viewers how much the American government as well as private corporations spend building prisons apposed to schools.

He goes on to say that our elected officials have been bought out by lobbyist. They want the politicians to pave the way for more prisons by passing more laws of enslavement to insure a steady flow of inmates to occupy the cells. America has entered into a hell like period where people are worth more in prison than free and working as all jobs are being shipped to China. America is being
de-industrialized and destroyed by design in the name of clean energy and saving the planet.

Re: 7.1 Million Americans Are In The Prisons System So Corporations Can Profit From Your Tax Money!
My son is an addict. He got arrested for possession (Felony) even though the amount he had was only enough for personal use. He received 12 months probation and was allowed to be released for treatment. He waited 50 days in a felony cell with murderers before he was released to probation officer for transportation.

He spent 60+ days in treatment and is now 100% clean. His first weekend being on limited release from treatment, we got a phone call from his dad saying three police officers just showed up at his house looking for my son.

We went on line and looked up his case file and sure enough, they had a warrant issued for him for probation violation.

After paying an additional $500.00 for an attorney, we found out that the probation officer never told the court he had been transported to treatment and when he didn't show up for probation for 60 days, they issued a revocation warrant.

Even after proving he was in treatment the entire time and sending the prosecutor a letter from his counselor stating that he was an exemplary patient and had been actually mentoring others, the prosecutor refused to drop the warrant and my son still has to appear in court for a probation revocation hearing.

My son has never stolen from anyone, harmed anyone but himself and is no threat to society, but could end up serving 7 months for a mistake made by the probation officer.

Sorry, these people are jackbooted thugs.

7.1 Million Americans Are In The Prisons System So Corporations Can Profit From Your Tax Money!

^^^This thread title implies that you believe all 7.1 million are innocent and being used for profit.

Sorry, no. Nothing could be further from the truth.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 13810602

I suggest that what it implies is that the "system" is designed to cater to the rich, and the pyramid structure of capitalism has reached its crescendo.

All those criminal minds behind bars did not have a choice, they were molded and corralled... and just basically collateral fodder in a system that demoralizes people for not having a legitimate role in the materialistic caste, that ironically, lacks true substance.

People forced to live in poverty and demoralizing atmosphere usually don't come out like some Cinderella story.

You can slice it any way you so please, but in matters of spiritual substance, you'll always be wrong.

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 4934354

Any wrong doing you attribute to another, you should recognize in yourself. Then you have a right to voice your opinion. If it was you who lived that life, who made those mistakes, who were lead so far astray, would it be right that others were advocating for your execution??? Does murdering someone for their crimes really create justice?? There is a better way.

And isn't it just crazy that the US incarcerates so many citizens on relatively minor crimes? Is there really no goal of rehabilitation?? Is there really nowhere in the justice system that we actually work to help people who have lost their way in life??

Or is it really all about profit now?? Are there really corporations, share-holders, companies profiting by the incarceration of citizens. Doesn't that put our whole judicial system in a conflict of interest???

Yes. Yes it does.

There giving middle school kids and high school kids tickets for petty crimes the principle and parents can handle at school and home. So many kids on probation, the sad part is parents miss work for the appointments, kids have to go to counceling and pay for that and also they have a record. Things they get tickets for today in my day was handled at school and by the parents, now they just call police. The principle gets paid over hundred thousand a year to rule and discipline, but the police are during the job for them.
