Reading the MIT blogs about this study/prediction, there are errors and assumptions inserted to acheive these results. For example on page 30, there is inserted a sudden and severe decline in wheat production, unexplained, that downstream enhances if not precipitates the collapse.

So this means no Iran war for another 18 years because WW3 is intimately linked with the global economic collapse.

I don't know what you people mean by "we'll all be dead by then," it's only 18 years away! Even my parents shouldn't be dead from natural causes by then. Many people live well into their 90s.

I don't put 100% stock in two computer models (this involves one done in 1972 and another done in 2012) but I do consider them way more likely to be close to the truth than some white people's interpretation of a Mayan calendar... in other words...the world is not ending this year, but these computer models should give us cause to think whether it might be soon. Not to interpret them literally, like it's going to be exactly 2030, but more like, to think about what direction the earth is going, see those natural limits and see if there's any way we can avoid them and convince the politicians and general population that it needs to be done.

Or else figure out how you're going to do all that you want to do in life within the next 15 years or so before it all starts going sour, and make sure you don't have any kids.

If you have kids, I think you're stuck with Plan A, that is, trying to save the world.

Normally when the mainstream media or "experts" predict doom, expect the exact opposite to happen.

If some people want a collapse there will be one. There's no shortage of resources, only unwise use of current ones and a failure to utilize renewable ones.

It's really weird when the same people who get all mad that the media and academics won't tell you when doom is coming try to find a reason to dismiss them when that's what they just basically said...
