It's been so emotional, I've been crying off and on all day - good tears of course. This is a message my brother just sent me - "so glad you called me my sister and mom r so happy you called.we cant wait to meet you.you been in my thoughts all my life knowing you r out here" I hadn't even known if they knew I existed. “If we are peaceful, if we are happy, we can smile and blossom like a flower, and everyone in our family, our entire society, will benefit from our peace.” Thich Nhat Hanh, Being Peace "But ask the animals, and they will teach you, or the birds in the sky, and they will tell you; or speak to the earth, and it will teach you, or let the fish in the sea inform you." - Job 12:7,8 "When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro." - Hunter S. My life has been affected by adoption too but so far the outcome has not been as favorable. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 14331561 If it had been adoption that separated us, it might have been easier. Both my father and mother were from snooty socialite families in the Waukegan area, near Chicago. It was the late 1950s and my mother's pregnancy threatened to create quite a scandal. Family lawyers took care of everything and apparently there was considerable money exchanged to ensure silence. My mom's family sold their companies and moved to Pennsylvania to make sure there was no contact ever again. Any time I have ever asked about my father, I was always told simply and firmly, "We don't speak of that." I didn't know about my brother and sister until I was about 17 and set out on a search to try and find my father. Im looking for some people as well.... It was more how they had used facebook. There is a website/app called My Life that they had posted some info on. When I ran a search on my father's name, a guy's My Life page popped up which said he was related to someone with my father's name. Even though our last name is uncommon, I knew that that might not be him, so I pulled up everyone on facebook with the same last name and started scanning for anyone that was from the area my father was. Bingo! A match with the My Life page. Then I ran a search for his number. Called this morning! Congrats on the link, sounds like some novel. Basically nothing. However, over the years, I was able to squeeze a little out of my mother. She said they had eloped. Both families had vacation homes in Miami. My mother was suppose to be spending some time there with her girl friends....and, you can figure out the rest. Apparently, some of that story wasn't entirely true - they hadn't "eloped", I was an accident. ;) The family lawyers got them married and divorced all in one day, so that my mother would be a single divorced mom instead of a single unmarried mom.
