So this is what it means to Love...
Quote from Frederick Buechner:

"The love for equals is a human thing - of friend for friend, brother for brother. It is to love what is loving and lovely. The world smiles. the love for the less fortunate is a beautiful thing - the love for those who suffer, for those who are poor, the sick, the failures, the unlovely. This is compassion, and it touches the heart of the world. The love for the more fortunate is a rare thing - to love those who succeed where we fail, to rejoice without envy with those who rejoice, the love of the poor for the rich, of the black man for the white man [or the white man for the black man]. The world is always bewildered by its saints. And then there is the love for the enemy - love for the one who does not love you but mocks, threatens, and inflicts pain. The tortured's love for the torturer. This is God's love. It conquers the world."

Let us all choose to let go of evil and turn to Love - Jesus Christ is That Love!

Think it not weak, for it is the greatest and most spectacular Power throughout all eternity!

Love is like that feeling where you and another feel like the happiest people on the earth and everyone just feels happy being around that area.
It's like a movie but it's all real and great things come to those that just love unconditional for it is what the universe needs to live an breath.

Amazing Love is for it is the 5th element for the multipass to the world of the 4 elements Earth Wind Fire Water so Heart can pump it back into the universal love flow

Love is indeed something that conquers all and cannot be made or bought. It is not just a day it is everyday!

The love of many has grown very cold. Like an ancient relic that we've read about but don't understand.

Nice post and shows someone, somewhere, does know and understand. That alone is enough to encourage us.

Busy day but knew there was a reason to have a cup of coffee and GLP. This post must have been the reason. 8) Will pin this with my karma.

Nice post JDB. Very nice.

Wanna hear something depressing?

I've never experienced love.

I've lived my entire life without anyone loving me. Even my biological family has never seen any value in me, nor invested in any way.

Everyone I've ever loved has turned away, rejected me, and abandoned me.

Yet.......I still love humanity. For some reason that I don't understand I was born "cursed". I was unwanted by both of my biological parents, yet instead of placing me with someone who might have loved me, they kept me so as to not feel guilty, I'm guessing.

I'm almost 70 years old, and all I've ever experienced is "what love isn't".

It's hard to believe, right? But it's true.

Re: So this is what it means to Love...
But how do you love everyone unconditionally? Easier said than done really. People, like me, have been hurt many many times so we put a wall up. We don't want to be vulnerable and be hurt again so love becomes impermeable coming in and going out. I think it's the ego. Conquering the ego has to be one of the hardest things to do. Are there any steps to take to come to that point of abundant love from within? I'd like to get there one day. As of right now, I'm a pretty cold-hearted person because of my past.

Hey AC - if what you say it true, then because of Jesus Christ...what He did, what He is doing and Who He Is...I love you! But TRULY the greatest thing of all, is that Jesus Loves you! I know taken from the context of the experiences proffered from most of the churches in America today...the answer is flat and dead...but NOT SO when one comes to experience The True and Living God - be happy to talk with you about that

Re: So this is what it means to Love...
I was a christian for many years. I sincerely gave my all and trusted for answers and provision.

But.......alas, after those many years I had nothing to show for my faith. I began asking questions that desparately needed answers.

My prayers WERE NOT ANSWERED. I am female, found myself thrown out on to the street, and rediculed by church people.

You see......I was married for over 30 years to a man who had a ThD, taught and pastored several churches. Unknown to me he also led a double life.

My marriage ended in one day. My grown sons saw that I had no more money to give them and choose their father who had double-crossed all of us.

Needless to say, I no longer believe in any god up in the sky who does what the bible says he will do.

If there is any god it has to be US. It's a copout to point to a book, and say "your answer is in it" while not offering to help in a more physical way.

Religion has provided what many think is a safe harbor for themselves, and look at the world with condemning eyes.

Religion tells us that mankind is wicked beyond measure. Even with my experience I refuse to believe that. It's religion that has condemned the very inborn nature that the Creator has placed in each one of us.

Religion has separated the man from the Creator.

No great master artist has ever painted a masterpiece without leaving a piece of himself in it.

Personally, I think we need a new definition of Love. The definition in this OP's thread comes closest, imo.

Beloved.......we MUST love one another, and end the judging and condemnation.

Some people do seem to be born with a silver spoon. Wanted, loved, and cherished. A precious gift, right from birth. Others aren't so fortunate.

Your post touched me so much that I looked up your posting history. From that, it seems that you don't believe in God.

From my perspective, you're rejecting The One that offers you love. I wonder if there are others that have offered love but you didn't see it? Maybe if you open your heart to The One that loves you and ask Him, He will provide the love you are missing.

It looks like you're a dog groomer. People who love dogs seem to be loving, caring people. I bet someone has loved, or does love you. I hope your heart and eyes will open to see it.

Blessings to you.

Bleh.

Sappy.

What is it with people who preach "love" for enemies?

Why do you promote something that says to a victim: "Love the person who hurt you" . . . ?

Only a person lacking self-esteem and self-respect will forgive and love cruel humans who hurt them in some way.

No one can define "love" . . . it is subjective.

And there is no such thing as "in love".

Humans will never be happy until they realize that relationships do not work . . . humans are victims of programming which dictates to them that they MUST be in a sexual relationship, that they MUST marry, etc. There may be the occasional exception, although it will be flawed, but the majority of human beings in relationships are not happy, and never will be.
