Safely destroy fleas on pets - Finally, a non-toxic, natural way to kill fleas and other parasitic insects on pets and in the house

Diatomaceous earth , crazy how come no one uses this stuff. They should sale it at Lowes or Home Depot but they don't. I had to get mine off the web.

I'm all for natural or non-poisonous alternatives, but Diatomaceous earth didn't work for me, either on my pet or my carpet. Neither did Borax.

they sell this stuff in the pool section. i have tried it and does not work on the super-fleas that have mutated since frontline came out. Frontline does not even work on fleas anymore!!!
Pine Oil will kill fleas. Straight pine sol is potent enough. Don't use it on your pet...just your floors.
I am still searching for a natural product to use!!!

DE is great but be very careful that it does not get into the pet's eyes or have then catch the down wind of it. It can do harm to pets & humans if not used with care.

There is things you put plug into an outlet, lets off some high pitch noise or somthing??... I dont know how they work to be honest, but I paid about $7 at Cambodia Tire. They work. I store 2-2.5 years of fire wood in the basment and had lots of insects and rodents, geckos, all kinds of shit because of that. Plugged in 1 of those night light looking thngs and everything is gone. 2 cats and 2 dog dont seem to mind it, then go everywhere in the house still. Been 10+ years and littereally no bugs or spiders or nothing downstairs.

I read apple cider vinegar will keep the fleas away from your dogs if sprayed onto their hair. And Borax for the
floor.

PLEASE Do not buy Swimming pool grade Diatomacious earth, IT IS TOXIC to pets!

ONLY purchase the "FOOD GRADE" for use on Animals and livestock.

Also, even with the food grade that is safe for pets, DO NOT get it stirred up into the air it is a fine powder of microscopic crushed sea creatures, it is shards and sharp, that is why it kills bugs and fleas by cutting them.

While it won't hurt an animals outer flesh it WILL CUT THEIR LUNGS UP if they inhale it just like asbestos does to human lungs!

You can get it at Feed Stores and some Garden Centers, but it doesn't work.

I know there is a lot of controversy about garlic,
but I have given it to my dog for years. It works
and it is cheap, it takes care of the fleas and because
he is outside a lot it keeps the worms away. All I do
is sprinkle a little granulated garlic on his food and I
never had a problem, but talk to your vet if you have
any questions.

A woman I know swears by it, says she doesn't have fleas in her house but go into her bathroom and you can SEE all the little blood stains from them in the sink, shower, on the floor. She brought her dog to my house and now we are all getting bit. Doesn't work or she didn't use it properly.

Now garlic DOES work! And as long as you are giving it in a safe dosage for the weight of your pet, it will be just fine. Also good for expelling tape/pin worms in an emergency until you can get Droncit.

I have been using DE on my dog and it isnot having any effect. This after several weeks. Sorry.

However, I have heard that horses do not have fleas (something about their scent). And that by rubbing your dog with a used horse blanket will get rid of the fleas. So, I am going to buy a horsey smelling blanket from a riding stable and give it a try.

for those of you saying it does not work on carpers, YOU MUST LET IT SIT FOR # DAYS. Then, vacuum it up. As for your pets, I have also heard that spraying them regularly with Apple Cider Vinegar works as other posters have said. Google amethyst stone in drinking water. i read somewhere about this before but i think it is only supposed to work for cats, but its worth a try:)

Used it last summer, I have 5 kids... Needed something safe because the house we moved into was infested. Worked outside but not inside... End up calling orkin lol... I found out the hard way that im the only one in my immediately family who is highly reactive to flea bites had over 50 bites on each leg... Wore my immune system down.
Had the riddex... Worked wonders for another rental property we stayed in... Kept the roaches out and all other bugs too.

DE works just fine for me... in and out of the house.

Currently using food grade DE on my dog. Treated him twice. About 2 weeks apart. Backbrushed his fur while applying liberally with an old parmagian cheese jar/shaker.
May have helped. Probably not. Still scratching.

I completely agree....the diatomaceous earth did nothing at all except make a mess! I would never use it again anywhere...

The above is correct, no pool DE. There is other chemicals added to it specifically for pool care.

You can get food grade DE at any farm feed store $3 -5 for a 5# bag. People already eat the stuff anyway. They use it in grain silos to kill bugs and there is always some left in the grain. It will not hurt you, but avoid breathing the powder dust. Could cause silicosis I believe. So can baby powder dust. Just be careful and don't snort it.

It's good for clearing parasites from your bowels and generally cleaning out the system, and in farm animal's food to help keep them healthy. I've used it for getting over tendonitis/arthritis in my knees. I can totally squat down now, couldn't do that for years. I do a tablespoon in OJ every morning. Keep it stirred, it doesn't actually dissolve. Or just chug it quickly.

There is a lot of info if you google DE. Supposedly good for fleas, roaches, ants etc. I have read that it tends to destroy vacuum cleaner belts because it is sharp.

It is made of silicon, which is the 3rd or 4th most abundant mineral on earth. It never goes stale either.
After all, it is millions of years old to begin with.

I can not believe people are not googleing DE, its kills fleas, yes, but not to use on your pet!! I feel sorry for the poor pups that the one person said they are still using on their dogs...Not good.. I wanted to put in my 2 cents that Advantage and Frontline do NOT have good reviews either (again Google and read up) Revolution is the only product I felt somewhat safe in using on my animals. I am having a hard time affording it now days and searched for something more natural. I read the thing about the Amethyst in water, kinda laughed and though, ya, too easy, wouldn't that be something...But thought for a couple bucks it wouldn't be a big loss and am sooo glad I tried it! 6 months now and not one flea in site since. Pretty weird or a coincidence that there are no fleas this year, but so far it has me convinced! I'm using a garage sale bowl, its enameled, (have no Idea of that made any difference) and I bought a cheap Necklace off ebay for $2. I had bid on some rings, stones and other jewelry for anything amethyst and won a 12" necklace of nice round beads on a string... $2, I just put the whole thing in his bowl.

I'm not sure about pine oil, but NEVER use PineSol around dogs! It burns their nose. One sniff can damage their super-sensitive sense of smell permanently!

I don't think it would harm your eyes, but then again I've never got any in my eyes before. I'd be concerned about inhaling it, but that just speculation on my part. I know farmers feed it to their livestock to kill parasites, I' dusted my dog's fur last summer when he got a few fleas, no more fleas, no worries about the animal licking himself and injhesting the DE; like I said before I drink a little every other day

For a completely natural pine source for flea control, try Olde Tyme 1881 Super Pine Oil Cleaner. Native Americans historically used pine as a flea repellant and to kill fleas. It's great to use diluted to clean surfaces and is reported to kill fleas on surfaces. I'm not sure if the diluted solution can safely be put on a dog's coat - like any substance, it has some safety concerns so google natural pine carefully before exposing your dog to any respiratory, ingestion, or other side effects. If you google it, you'll find where to buy it. It's concentrated and when diluted as instructed, will go a long way. It's made from taping fallen trees and stumps to extract natural pine oil.
