THe sabbath is not about God´s worhip but your rest from all work.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 13479329

I agree for the most part, that is the basic tenant.

The Seventh Day was the Day that God rested from work and engaged in quality fellow ship with Adam and Eve.

It was they day that they worked on their personal relationship.

Are we required to go to "church" or spend the day reading scripture and in prayer? No, I do not believe we are, but that does not preclude us from doing so.

That is why I said "what I believe" and what I do.

Saturday in my house is a family day.

My husband is not a believer and works half of the day.

My children and I read and pray, we engage in activities that we believe utilize the talents God gave us and we have a family meal when my husband gets home and really take some time to touch base with each other. It is difficult to do over the course of the week with everyone's schedules being so crazy and diverse.

We also have a family night after supper on Friday since that is when the Sabbath technically starts. We play cards or board games. Do crafts. Something we can do together as a family that encourages interaction.

We bond.

That's what my family does. We have a small home fellowship that worships on the biblical Sabbath, the 7th day of the week.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 14746866

LOL, too bad the biblical sabbath is lunar.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 13479329

Yes, it is Lunar for the feasts and festivals, but there is also the weekly, seventh day Sabbath which is sundown Friday to sundown Saturday.
 Quoting: Buddaroll

Not what I have said, evening to evening, yes. The Saturnday, no.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 13479329

I Get that now, but there are many who do not understand it that way, hence my clarification.

The way you stated it could have been taken by many to not mean the seventh day, period. That is how I read it.

I spent most of my childhood in Churchianity but no one could answer my questions and in fact condemned me for it. Then there were also a few individuals who did some horrible things to me in the name of Churchianity so I took a VERY long vacation.

It is only very recently that I have decided to take the book back up and look at it from fresh eyes. Ther is still al lot to learn and to be honst, I do not think that any person can learn it all as He is always revealing something new!!

Sort of like getting a secular education.

You can have as many doctorates as you want, but then once you put them into practice, you learn even more and it never stops!!

Love that...

There are a lot of them here. We may not all agree on every matter and every line, but I think it has to do with what we have learned personally at that point in our lives.

I TRY tpo remember when responding that what I am saying is what I understand at this time. I may learn more that deepens that understanding or I may learn that I misunderstood.

It all depends on the syllabus created for us , I suppose. As individuals, we all learn a bit differently and have different needs. When we "enroll" in the school, He sees to it that we learn what we need to learn at the time we need to learn it. He really does know us best.

First off I start by saying, when the scripts were written or translated did they have to try and improvise on any of it?

I read something about certain scripts having to have vowels and punctuation added in translation.

Spent some time reading about the "dead sea scrolls" too, that was interesting.

Regarding the resurrection, the witness who supposedly seen Christ has been noted as not being aware it was him until after?

He was forsaken to save mankind, he had a pact with god that he was aware of?

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1479302

sorry, quote button messed up above......
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1479302

From what little I know of Lew, the "occult" stuff he is related to is Kabbalah based. There are some who believe that Messiah was taught some mysticism during the lost years and he then taught it to the apostles that were not already mystics themselves.

As for the Kabbalah information out there today, I suspect that like much of everything else, there is some truth hidden in the layers of deception related to it.

I generally stay away from it because I am still studying the basics: The Bible as we know it now. I do plan on reading the two books that were removed from the original Nicean based Bible: Ezra 4 and Wisdom.

I am not against reading books that are not considered part of the current Bible, but do not think it should be done until a good grasp of the basics has been acquired and then thoroughly prescribe the precept upon precept theory.

My approach to studying when I have a question is to read in order to both prove and disprove while asking for guidance from Him. Once I read something, I then try to find scripture that supports AND refutes my understanding of the message. In doing so, I have found that it is either one or the other. I have yet to have a situation where it is truly unclear.

Someone once gave me an interesting analogy.

The Secret Service agents who work in counterfeiting. When they are trained, it is done only with real money at first. They become so familiar with the real thing via all of their senses that eventually they can easily pick a genuine bill out of a stack of excellent counterfeits. Why? Because there are multiple ways to create the counterfeits but only one process for the genuine.

The same holds true with scripture. Yes, many of the texts have been corrupted and done so by people with multiple ulterior motives. The catholic church, Judaizers and others. But the true message is constant through all of the of the codices.

Once you become familiar with them, as the secret servants agents do, it is easy to start recognizing the many forms of the "counterfeit".
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 14713581

This was me, I forgot to log in.

I wanted to clarify something about the theory of Messiah being involved in mysticism.

Messiah as well as the apostles were accused of being of the Nazerine sect. This was not created by Messiah, it already existed. It is believed by some, that at the time, the Nazerines (Not the people from Nazerine but the Netzarim who practiced a specific theology) had beleifs similar to the Essenes.

Much as we have different flavors of "Christianity" today such as Presbyterian, Anglican, Baptist, Methodist, Quaker.. There were similar yet definite flavors of the way the Israelite practiced in their time.

Great info, thanks! I have been looking into a lot of these sorts of things lately -- something is burning in my heart to get to the truth.

Question: If we conclude that Sunday is not the day, what do we do in our everyday lives to honor God correctly? Would it be best to "worship" in some way on Saturdays in our homes?

Hi Neim,

I did some research similar and came to the same conclusion of a Wednesday afternoon death and a Saturday night resurrection around dusk just after the Sabbath was over. Mostly he was crucified in 31 AD since that is when all the days lined up with a Wednesday crucifixion.

The reason I was studying the days of week when Chist died is because I wanted to verify the day of the waving of the sheaf for the counting of the omer since Christ was the first fruits.

He was three days in the tomb. Hebrews counted any part of the day:

Fri - day one

Sabbath - day two

Sun - day three

It is written Mary went to the tomb following the Sabbath.

Thank you again you few disciples who contributed to making this information avaialble to the young believers. It is my desire that the prideful will look at these facts and really humble themselves before the most high God Eh'Yeh

There is that belief that messiah was resurrected on a Sunday morning and it is not biblical or factual. It will be good to see fellow believers gettin together to resolve this myth though some hold it as factual.Based on this myth a new doctrine was introduced which I will comment on after your views and present more scriptural eveidencethat refutes this opinion

:NOTES:
This is my belief and this is true and can be found in the scriptures!
**Messiah is the lord of the sabbath and in him we come into his rest. When he was on the cross just like his father created the world and rested on the sabbath and proclaimed it holy so did messiah rest of his labour on the hallowed day and aslo said it is finished!**.

I will give a starting point with two passages of scripture and we can work from there."*We see messiah is cut off in the middle of a prophetic week*"

The book of Daniel chapter 9

:IOYU:
Then shall the street walls be buyled agayne Ixij. wekes,
but with harde troublous tyme. After these
Ixij. wekes, shall Christ be slayne,

5 they shall haue no pleasure in him. Then shall there
come a people with the prynce, and destroye
the cite and the sanctuary : and his ende shall come as the water flood. But the desolacion shall continue till the ende of the battle.

He shall make a stronge bonde with many,
for the space of a weke : and when the weke is half gone, he shal put downe the slayne and meatoffringe
.

And in the temple there shall be an abhominable desolacion, till it haue destroyed all. And it is concluded, and this waistinge shall continue vnto the ende.

Here we have confirmation of 3 days and 3 nights in the grave

Jonah 1:17 Now the LORD had prepared a great fish to swallow up Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights.

:jtyj:

o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-

Matthew 12:38 Then certain of the scribes and of the Pharisees answered, saying, Master, we would see a sign from thee.

39 But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas [NKJV: Jonah]:

40 For as Jonas [NKJV: Jonah] was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth

-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o

LET US START THIS JOURNEY TOGETHER!

To understand this we need to understand the culture of the hebrews of that time, so I will explian a couple things as we go forward into the word.
Let us also be mindful in the middle east in the messiah time and from creation the day started from the setting of the sun in the evening and ends at the setting of the sun the following evening.

:rtty:
THE EVENING

:iuoio:
THE MORNING

Reference:The Book of Genesis chapter 1
:3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.

1:4 And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.

1:5 And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.

**MOVING ON LET US LOOK AT SOME MORE FACTS GATHERED FROM ANOTHER BROTHER ON THE THREAD** "BUDDAROLL" THANK YOU!

clappa

Messiah died @ 3pm on Wednesday but had to be entombed before sundown because Thursday was the the High Day Sabbath of Passover. So... Approx 6pm

In order to be 3 days and 3 nights (no it is not a Hebrewism, this is a strict 72 hrs) Messiah would have had to have risen in that 3 hr period on Saturday, the weekly Sabbath.

It was not discovered until just before Dawn on Sunday that He had risen, but that does not mean that He rose at Dawn on Sunday.

Since Saturday was the Sabbath and there were travel restrictions, I do not think (but I am not sure) that they would have been able to go to the tomb on Saturday with the oils and herbs.
 Quoting: Neim-Ya'shar

-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O--O-O-O-O-O--O

**EXACTLY SO! AND I AGREE WITH THIS FINDING ABOVE 100% AND WE WILL JUSTIFY THIS BELOW**!

LOOK HERE IS WHAT THROWS OF PEOPLE AND IT WAS BY DESIGN!

Luke chapter 23
54 And that day was the preparation, and the sabbath drew on.

55 And the women also, which came with him from Galilee, followed after, and beheld the sepulchre, and how his body was laid.

56 And they returned, and prepared spices and ointments; and rested the sabbath day according to the commandment.

NOTES
:This sabbath was the holy convocation on the day of passover if the high holy day fell on a week day.It is to be declared a sabbath

:YY6UUU:

NOTES:Now look what king james and the other bibles did to confuse the masses. They did not specify the three days after but they jumped right into the first day sunday giving the impression it was a weekly sabbath that was approching in chapter 23.

Also we have a nother account in the book of Matthew Chapter 28 which Identifies the real time of the sabbath as it was drawing toward the first day.Like I explained about creation the new day starts from evening sunset then the morning, this account is more realistic

account #1
Matthew Chapter 28
28:1 In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre.

account #2
Luke chapter 24
1 Now upon the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came unto the sepulchre, bringing the spices which they had prepared, and certain others with them.

2 And they found the stone rolled away from the sepulchre.

3And they entered in, and found not the body of the Lord Jesus.

:yjghf:THANK EH'YEH FOR THE WORD!

To verify your answer if you check back 3 days and 3 nights from sunday morning. You will have messiah being crucified thursday morning early before sunrise. That is erroneous
you are very correct

NOTES:Many of you will ask, why will the church lie to us? The answer is Rome is not your friend wake up! They took counsel together with their bloodline edomites pharasees seeds and killed your messiah.

They killed and destroyed your peoples making them slaves in the four corners of the earth. They gave you their pagan worship centers and false doctrines and you recieve it gladfully and in the mean time rebelling against your creator in your disloyal and adulterated false relationship.

O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-

LET US LOOK AT MOTIVES AND THE NUMBER ONE THING WAS TO INSTITUTE THE SUNDAY WORSHIP.USING THE MESSIAH'S CRUCIFIXION WAS THE IDEAL CATALYST TO WIN THE HEARTS OF THE SIMPLEMINDED.

:cfgjjhj:

Origins of Good Friday. Did you ever wonder why Good Friday is recognized as the day Jesus died and Sunday as the day he arose but yet had trouble explaining how he could thus be buried for three days and three nights? (Matthew 12:40; Matthew 27:63; Mark 8:31; Mark 9:31; Mark 10:34)

*The answer is simple: He didn't actually die on "Good Friday." The Chaldeans offered cakes to Ishtar on the equivalent of the day we know as Good Friday.*

*And Sun Day Easter is in place to commemorate the resurrection of the sun god Tammuz*
:nbvbvc:

When the established church wanted to appease the paganistic people in order to "convert" them to Christianity, they moved the dates accordingly. Jesus actually died on the day of Preparation of Passover Week, which that year occurred on Wednesday (John 19:14, 31-42). Thursday was the Sabbath of the Passover. Friday, Christ was still in the tomb. Saturday was the "regular" Sabbath.

Jesus arose just before the Saturday Sabbath was concluded, which was jsut before the first day of the week commenced at sunset. For further clarification of the days concerning Jesus' death, burial, and resurrection, see Matthew 27:50-28:7; Mark 15:25-16:6; Luke 23:44-24:8; John 19:14-20:17.

Who celebrates Easter? Pagans, who base their celebrations (including Halloween) on the phases of the moon, celebrate Easter. Christians, however, are clearly forbidden from observing this pagan celebration (Deuteronomy 12:30-31; Luke 4:8; 1 Corinthians 10:20-22; Ephesians 5:11).

There is a good reason why the early church never spoke of Easter and why there is absolutely no indication of the observance of the Easter festival in the New Testament.

(The only exception is a mistranslation in the King James version of Acts 12:4, where it gives the word "Easter" instead of the correction translation "Passover.") It was not an oversight on God's part; Christians simply are not to celebrate Easter, a pagan festival.

I agree with most of what you have presented and I learned about this long ago. However, Is it the day that is important or the act? Calling it Easter Sunday, yes is giving it a paganized name, but I do not know any Christians who honor pagan God's on Easter Sunday. They may be unaware of the historical pagan roots of Easter, but in their hearts, they are choosing to praise Jesus Christ and rejoice over the fact that he conquered death. Getting literal about dates is waxing historically and yes, it is important for Christians to understand how much influence the pagans have had on the truth over the centuries. However its the act of the heart, not the date, which I believe pleases God. Moreover, I really enjoyed your presentation!

Took me a minute to figure out what Neim was saying. I hope he doesn't mind if I paraphrase a bit to make a note for my simple minded self.

The commandments state to keep the Sabbath Holy.
Genesis tells us that God rested on the 7th day Sabbath.
We know that that day never changed.
And I believe it was Paul who said that what made him a sinner was knowing the law and disobeying it.
He wasn't sinning or disobeying the law when he was ignorant of the law, but once he was aware of it, not following it is willful disobedience and therefore a sin. (I have to run and pick up the kids and am unable to grab the scripture at the moment so I am paraphrasing here.)

IMO, that means that if you are aware that the Sabbath is on the 7th day, sunset Friday to sunset Saturday then that is the day you are to keep Holy.

I have not yet gone into the specific laws as I am still working on the basics so I am not fully aware of what keeping the Sabbath Holy means, so I currently keep Sabbath as I understand it now but that may change when I get to that part of my studies.

The good news is that He is patient as we learn. He knows that like any good education, we do not just download the info into our brains in moments and know all there is to know right away. It takes a lifetime to learn and in His grace, he works with us and fine tunes us as we continue to ask for His guidance. As long as we strive to improve and seek His guidance to do so, He will lovingly lead the way.

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 2059065

"3And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. 4God saw that the LIGHT WAS GOOD, and he SEPARATED the light from the darkness. 5God called the light “DAY,” and the darkness he called “night.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the first day."

"21Each morning everyone gathered as much as he needed, and when the sun grew hot, it melted away. 22On the sixth day, they gathered twice as much—two omersb for each person—and the leaders of the community came and reported this to Moses. 23He said to them, “This is what the Lord commanded: ‘TOMORROW is to be a day of rest, a holy Sabbath to the Lord. So bake what you want to bake and boil what you want to boil. Save whatever is left and keep it UNTIL MORNING.’”
24So they saved it until morning, as Moses commanded, and it did not stink or get maggots in it. 25“Eat it TODAY,” Moses said, “because TODAY IS A SABBATH to the Lord. You will not find any of it on the ground today. 26Six days you are to gather it, but on the seventh DAY, the Sabbath, there will not be any."

"Jesus answered, “Are there not TWELVE HOURS IN THE DAY?

OP, are you sure that you are teaching scripturally that the sabbath is from sunset to sunset? That is a Jewish tradition from the times of Babylon, no?

Why did you start another thread to profess the same mistake?

God has revealed He would change the Sabbath. He has, it's
called the Lord's Day now. You're wise, now 2000 years later to tell the Apostles and the first Christians they are wrong assembling to worship God on the first day of the week.

Using some Old Testament terms, doesn't change the fact this
is the New Covenant. Our Lord came to make things new
and better.

Christians celebrate the day of Our Lord's resurrection,
Sunday.

Private interpretation of Scripture brings error, it's heresy. God gave the authority to interpret the Bible to the
Church, the same Church who canonized Scripture.

Pride, 2000 years later, you have heretics saying Jesus didn't rise from the dead on Sunday.

It's so stupid to say this, like the first Christians didn't know what they were doing and why.

• Palm Sunday (or Passion Sunday), the entrance of Jesus into Jerusalem.
• Holy Thursday (or Maundy Thursday), the institution of Communion and the betrayal by Judas.
• Good Friday, the arrest, trial, crucifixion, death, and burial of Jesus Christ.
• Holy Saturday, the Sabbath on which Jesus rested in the grave.

Reconstructing the Holy Week from Scripture

Friday: Preparation Day, the Passover
The disciples arranged for the Passover meal, which took place after sundown on Thursday. We might call it Friday Eve, because by Jewish reckoning, the day begins with the previous sunset. That’s why we call 24 December “Christmas Eve.” Jesus and the disciples ate the Passover in the upper room. They ate it early, which was not uncommon. In that era, most Passover Seders did not include lamb, because most jewish people lived too far away from the Temple to obtain a lamb that was kosher for Passover. Therefore the disciples, who were from Galilee, would have been accustomed to a Passover Seder without lamb. Judas left during the meal. Jesus and the remaining disciples adjourned to the Garden of Gethsemane, where Jesus prayed and the disciples kept falling asleep. Judas arrived to betray Jesus, who spent the rest of the night being tried by the Sanhedrin and by Pilate. The following morning, which was still the same day by Jewish reckoning, the Crucifixion significantly took place just as the Passover lambs were being slaughtered in the Temple. Matthew 27:62, Mark 15:42, Luke 23:55-56, and John 19:31 all inform us that this took place on Preparation Day, which is the Jewish name for Friday. Mark and John explain that the next day was the Sabbath. Later the disciples realized that in giving them the bread and pronouncing it His body, Jesus Himself had been the Passover lamb at the Last Supper. Thus Jesus, our Passover lamb, was sacrificed for our sins on Passover (1 Corinthians 5:7), and His blood protects us from the angel of death. Jesus died on the cross and was buried before sunset. So Friday was first day that Jesus lay in the tomb.

Saturday: the Jewish Sabbath
Jesus rested in the tomb on the Sabbath. According to Matthew 28:1, Mark 16:1-3, and Luke 23:56-24:3, the day before the Resurrection was a Sabbath. This is the second day that Jesus lay in the tomb.

Sunday: the first day of the week, the Festival of First Fruits

On the third day, Jesus rose from the grave. It was the first day of the week and the day after the Sabbath, according to Matthew 28:1, Mark 16:1-3, Luke 23:56-24:3. John 20:1 says the Resurrection took place on the first day of the week. He does not explicitly say that the previous day was the Sabbath, but there is no room in his narrative for any intervening days. The first day of the week is the Jewish name for Sunday. Sunday is also the eighth day after the creation in Genesis, so Paul describes Jesus’ Resurrection as the first fruits of the new creation in 1 Corinthians 15:20-23.

Biblical Foundations:
• Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John all inform us that the Last Supper and the Crucifixion took place on Preparation Day.
• Mark and John inform us that the next day, the day after the Crucifixion, was the Sabbath.
• Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John inform us that the Resurrection took place on the first day of the week.
• Matthew, Mark, and Luke inform us that the day before the Resurrection was the Sabbath, and John heavily implies it.

Ancient Christian writers confirm this reconstruction. In The Apostolic Constitutions, Book V, Section III, it says that the Last Supper occurred on the fifth day of the week (Thursday), that Jesus was crucified on the next day (Friday), and rose on the first day (Sunday), and it explicitly states that this constitutes three days and three nights. The Apostolic Constitutions uses Roman-style midnight-to-midnight days, so this squares with the New Testament’s use of sundown-to-sundown days. It also says that Jesus gave the apostles a commandment to pass on to us, to fast on Wednesdays and Fridays; the first to commemorate His betrayal, the second to commemorate His passion on the cross.

Therefore, it is obvious that the Crucifixion took place on a Friday, that Jesus rested in the tomb on Saturday, and rose from the grave on Sunday. So, you might ask, why didn’t the gospel writers just come right out and say that it was Friday, Saturday, and Sunday? The answer is that they did, for the circumstances under which they wrote. They were writing for an audience beyond Palestine, and in the Roman Empire of the first century, there was no general consensus about the names of the days of the week, the number of the current year, the names and lengths of the months, the date of the new year, or the time at which the day began. On that last point, the day began at midnight in Egypt, at sunrise in Greece, and at sunset in Palestine. So even though it is not what we are used to, the gospels are really worded in such a way as to make the dates and times comprehensible to anyone in the Roman Empire who was familiar with the Jewish Scriptures.

When you count days you get a different answer than when you subtract dates. If you go to a three-day seminar that begins on Friday, you expect it to end on Sunday, because Friday, Saturday, and Sunday are three days. However, if you subtract the date of Friday from the date of Sunday, the answer is two elapsed days. The ancients counted days instead of calculating elapsed time—in fact, Jesus Himself counted days this way in Luke 13:31-32. This is why the tradition is universal that Jesus spent three days in the tomb when He was buried on Friday and rose from the dead on Sunday. All intervals in the Jewish and Christian calendars are calculated the same way, which is why Pentecost falls on a Sunday and not on a Monday.

Really, why does it matter what day this happened or what day that happened.Your worried about the young generation, then why teach them discord and division over matters that don't mean anything. This is why the church is divided into a million factions,if they all taught the message love god and love your neighbor the churches would be united under christ.
Plus if you put the comma here:
When he was on the cross just like his father, created the world and rested on the sabbath.
You fit in perfectly with the mormon doctrine that jesus says "I do only the things I saw my father do" because if you put the comma here:
When he was on the cross, just like his father created the world and rested on the sabbath.
doesn't make any sense.
just like his father he created the world, who created the world god or jesus or is there 2 worlds.
