I dont think you're that far off. While its true that VC has a lot of info that people werent privy to beforehand, it does seem that their angle was to get that info out there. Why? That info being released certainly doesnt seem to be hurting the music industry any. Plus, if you post anything questing VC's motives on there it gets pulled down immediately.
They've got a narrative on that site: who the good guys are, who the villians are, etc. If whatever you post doesnt flow with it, there's no real discussion. You are pulled apart by that site's groupies.
VC says its neutral, & it is. It can afford to be, because they have a bunch of obsessed kids hanging off of every word ready at their beckoning call to destroy whatever doesnt fit the narrative.
I feel I'm coming off a little negative on VC, because I do frequent & enjoy the site, but it seems to me that info posted on there wouldnt be left there if it was detrimental to TPTB.

Label owners, CEOs, "crises managers" even powerful stylists...

The people who MAKE the people who MAKE THE SYMBOLIC GESTURES- those are the UNTOUCHABLES in VC's eyes because VC is one (many) of them. It's just a training camp for the willing...
