You know, if you look hard enough at any belief system or ideology you will find some areas of questionable ethics. You may find some outright scams but that doesn't make the original information any less valuable...sometimes it's just a few bad apples in the mix.

True. So what? Does that prevent people to act to solve the problems in their own backyard?

What's better? New-agers taking responsibility themselves to sort out the "few bad apples", or waiting for the govt to do it (it won't happen)?

The only way this world will be healed is forcing the victims to do serous soul searching, and forcing them to drop out of their hate bubble.

What do you think about Xenu, Zephyr? Does that part of the story ring true too?

You wanna know what L.Ron was thinking when he wrote his book, with advices from the occultist Jack Parsons? You wanna know how he joked about how he would start a religion to become rich?

You know what was is previous job? Science-fiction writer.
You want to know where is "knowledge" of the spiritual comes from? Occultism. He was a scribe for Jack Parsons, leader of the Agape Lodge (OTO in the US) and participated in sex magic rituals to invoke demonic entities.

Is that the kind of guy who should be free to spread his "knowledge"?

A lot of what passes for religion and new age and such is really just the "mutual accommodation of self-need."

Some have the need to teach; others have the need to be taught.

Some have the need to lead; others have the need to be led.

They attract each other and develop a symbiotic relationship as each group needs the other to fulfill their own needs.

He was manipulated.

Read that book:

You'll see how easy it is to pull the strings of someone and make him act against it's will.

Then read about interrogation techniques and things like that. Isolating the victim from all external influences. Slowly but surely feed him "truth" to get his trust, then start implanting your manipulative ideas.

Where I live, it's against the law. Where you live, it's the "freedom of cult and expression".

It was NOT his choice. His only conscious choice was to open their door.

You may believe it's the will of the universe or his own or whatever. Not me. I believe we have responsibilities for others.

Re: About new agers and so on...
I distain New Age commercialism. But be careful with the wide brush you are using.

Living in the NE US, I'm aware of the people who lived here before the Europeans came with their diseases physical AND psychic. Studdying those people and their point of view has been valuable. Is that "New Age"?

Thousands of years of European history and learning was burned by the Christians. Is learning about what came before bad? For 10 thousand years Europeans worked with and new the natural forces of nature.
The West has divorced itself from nature--Christianity actually likened nature to "satan" and we have goods and ease like never before. But we need to turn that around if we are to survive long term. Is that "New Age"?
Eating locally? Buying locally manufactured goods? Buying less stuff that turns normal hormones into cancer causing chemicals? Getting 0ut and using your body before you die of diabetes? Wearing less synthetic clothing. Is that "New Age" and bad?

Be careful you are not just being a voice for the forces of atrophy and death.

It seems that most of what you see as bad in the "New Age" comes from the fact that Westerners are already programmed by Christianity to fear the natural world including the world inside you. They bring dualistic thinking into the equasion and make a mess of things via guilt, over analysis, gossip and the desire for power and authority.

Re: About new agers and so on...
New-agers brought us channellers, the galactic federation of light, Rael, 2012 mayan shit, mass suicides, and all the associated craziness thanks to all who dabbled in psychic experiences thinking it's cool and fun, while most simply become deluded or crazy.

Plus new-age has been notably (can be proven) hijacked by the CIA.

For all that, I'm grateful to new-age.

[/sarcasm:off]
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1051099

Yes? well, religion brought us the dark ages, women and children burned at the stake, torture, endless wars in the name of god...and women enslaved by men for centuries. Thanks, Jesus.
 Quoting: Zephyr2

Listen Hepher, I mean Zephyr...you should thank Jesus that he died for you! Despite you and yourself. Your mother doesn't even have that kind of unconditional love for you....
 Quoting: Thank you Jesus 11476378

Okay, off the topic of the original post, but seriously, any real mother would die for her kids. Any real mother has that unconditional love for her kids.

Nope, it's not new-age, hence the necessity to come up with a correct definition as I requested a few pages ago.

New-age does not have the monopoly for tribal spiritualities and ecological and sustainable behaviours.

The new-age movement has taken older and existing many things and incorporated them under it's name without asking them in the first place if that was ok.

Would shaman be OK to be called "new-agers"? Would ecologists be OK to be called "new-agers"?

The only thing that is very typical to new-age (but still shared with a few tribal beliefs), is the belief in a coming new age.

What is christianity? Evangelical/baptist movement like in the US? The European protestants? The Catholics? The orthodox?

Most christians here are not afraid of nature nor the world inside, that is US christianism.

Catholicism is partly pagan, and Christian mystics like monks work on their inner universe.

Oh? and what do you suggest? Don't tolerate? How's that going for ya? Look around on our planet...lots of intolerance...working real well, huh? death, disease, war, famine....ah....makes one feel all warm and fuzzy....
 Quoting: Zephyr2

People are people at the end of the day, regardless of their higher and mightier 'beliefs' religious or not.
What I think I'm hearing OP say, under what appears to be self-correcting principles of being a better person you instead get a corrupt ego 'wearing' higher principles like a mask. Still shit inside, still corrupt.

I know a guy who took a retreat for 3 years, and when he came back his approach to corruption and frailties was softer and said he was, "not so bothered and more tolerant".

To me, nothing is more oppressive than fanatics attempting to impose their 'beliefs' on others. What they do to themselves is their business whatever the brand name.
If a person is corrupt that is their choice.
What looks like an ideal panacea that automatically corrects the innards of someone is an illusion. Like the size of a tallywacker it's all how you use it.

The guy in the vid is a sweet man. What might help his self consciousness is to realize people are too busy thinking about themselves to notice any flaw in him, and he's probably going for some kind of unattainable perfection in himself. He's just young still.. :)

i made it to page 3 and was surprised no one mentioned this...so i will.

When some one becomes spiritually awake, it is because they where triggered by something that caught their attention and moved them enough to decide to make a change from within and after that, things start to flow and you start to run into synchronicitys and seeing things for what they truly are. This is not...I repeat...NOT new age. But instead a rediscovery of who you/we truly are. When a label is added to anything, It is then out in the open to be controlled and scrutinized. You must become wary of anything that is labeled new age because it is most likely a trap set up to let you down. Especially if they are asking for money/energy. True wisdom comes from within and without outside influence. When you are unsure of something you must look inside yourself with a question, and if you are truly honest with yourself, you will find the answers you are looking for. This is nothing new and has been going on sense before any religion was ever thought of(to control).

You pretty much make my point:

I believe we have responsibilities for others.

In the case of your example, the parent have a responsibility for their children.

And if I see a friend that is about to fall into a trap, I believe it's my responsibility to help him, and that should be encouraged by the society and the laws.

When you are unsure of something you must look inside yourself with a question, and if you are truly honest with yourself, you will find the answers you are looking for. This is nothing new and has been going on sense before any religion was ever thought of(to control).

Namaste my friends:)

Re: About new agers and so on...
New Age is just a dramatic label for dramatic change.

Some people don't want anything to change *cough religitards cough*

Lol, come on. *religtards* want's fire to rain from the sky and being sucked to the sky just before.

How's that for a change.

What I find most interesting is this:

Who would it serve to implant a hope for change in people's mind.

"Don't do anything. Change will come. Be patient. Don't try to change things for yourself".

That's an interesting question to ask.

Re: About new agers and so on...
until you've read the Edgar Cayce, Seth, Abraham-Hicks, Conversation with God, Gary Schwarts, Kubler-Ross Bruce Lipton (the list goes on) in their entirety, you would do well to not be so judgey about the New Age.. We all find enlightenment in our own way. Those who think they have all the answers are the most dangerous of our species..

Re: About new agers and so on...

Re: About new agers and so on...
people hate change. even the masochist has trouble changing his ways...

you would think that with the industrial revolution, advances in science, the internet and people freely traveling the globe, that would put an end to religious dogma. but we are still caught up in multi-god systems that only seek to annihilate each other or themselves. something isnt right...
Row, row, row your boat...gently down the stream...merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily...life is but a dream...
