Re: A Christian's opinion about Atheists arguments against the existence of God. (Discussion thread)
There is overwhelming evidence for all the areas of science, including science that directly contradicts Christianity. There is only mundane evidence for anything found in the bible. Yet, Christians demand ridiculous demonstrations of proof, but they can't even offer evidence for any of their claims. You make such extraordinary claims, that you would think a rational person would expect some kind of evidence before just taking your word for it. A rational person would look at your reasoning as just making excuses for not having any evidence, for example: Why does God require you to believe in him, but won't give any evidence of himself? And, the Christian answer to that is: Because God requires you to have faith. Well, I could say that about anything. If I told you that evolution required you to have faith, would you as a Christian believe it? I could say that about anything I could make up, but God isn't made up is he? He really exists, and he really wants you to have faith in him. And, why is that again? Oh, well... Lets make up some more stuff to explain why he would want people believing in random unprovable things. Maybe God likes gullible followers. I don't know, you answer it for yourself.

So Here is my question: Why do you even attempt to make a rational argument for the existence of your beliefs? You don't have any evidence, and you don't follow through on your logic. Why don't you just say, "I believe in X, and there is nothing you can do to prove me wrong".

Since you say there is a god which religion is the right one to worship god?
 Quoting: Upheval

Because if you chose one, the others say you are wrong. So which one is right?
 Quoting: Upheval

So in the end chosing the wrong religion is just as bad and not believing in god because if you pick the wrong one you are dammed either way. So who's religion is right?
 Quoting: Upheval

It really says a lot when they cannot answer your question.

It must mean there is no "right" or "wrong" answer...

Re: A Christian's opinion about Atheists arguments against the existence of God. (Discussion thread)
When thinking about a "Creator God", can you not think in terms of an old gray-haired, bearded man or a younger version of him? Can you think of a "Creator God" that doesn't demand a blood sacrifice or cutting a part off your body that was originally put there by the "Creator God"? Can you think of a "Creator God" that didn't give different cultures different laws and rituals to follow? Can you grasp the concept that all the "gods" and "religions" are just cultural?

Who's "God" is God?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 252372

On atheism, Sagan commented in 1981:

"An atheist is someone who is certain that God does not exist, someone who has compelling evidence against the existence of God. I know of no such compelling evidence. Because God can be relegated to remote times and places and to ultimate causes, we would have to know a great deal more about the universe than we do now to be sure that no such God exists. To be certain of the existence of God and to be certain of the nonexistence of God seem to me to be the confident extremes in a subject so riddled with doubt and uncertainty as to inspire very little confidence indeed."

There is a theory which states that if ever anybody discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened.

The problem isn't that things are beyond comprehension, it's that we are too close minded to try and truly understand anything. Preconceived notions are a bitch that we ALL deal with.

Ugh.

Sagan is a dick, & he's being delibertely ignorant when he says this.

God is an abstract idea. But the idea of his religion is brilliant, see - it bases it's core values around FAITH - belief in something without proof. So when you ask someone to prove god, they say have faith. But when they ask us to disprove god, we have no proof. It's a vicious cycle of deliberate trickery.

Re: A Christian's opinion about Atheists arguments against the existence of God. (Discussion thread)
I said this on another thread earlier discussing religion and its use a tool of control

I liken the whole god thing to the whole santa claus thing when we grow up as kids

I grew up believing in god, santa and all that stuff

then you come to the realization there isnt a santa, there isnt a man who flys around the world giving out presents to all the kids who have been good and leaving out the bad ones

In fact the whole santa thing is a way of tricking kids into doing things the parents want, especially in December when its coming up to christmas

The god thing is the same thing
Religion is used as a tool of control, only instead of tools, it plays on our fears of death, so create the illusion of an mystical being who is everywhere, sees everything, making a naughty and nice list, and the good ones go to heaven, and the bad ones go to hell and you have the perfect tool of control

As you grow up you come to the realization as with the santa thing, that this god, this imaginary being doesn't exist and the times you need him most hes not there, theres always the excuse of, oh your being tested, or he was busy doing something else for someone else, then you think but wait a minute, if he knows everything in the first place, why does he need to test me, or if hes everywhere all the time, then how come he wasnt here when i needed him.
Thats when you realize theres no such thing, its all a delusion in order to get us to do what someone else wants us to do.

Theres only so many times that people turning to god in their hours of need and get let down before people come to the realization its all a fraud, that was made up and kept going by people who have a vested interest, be it financially or otherwise.

Re: A Christian's opinion about Atheists arguments against the existence of God. (Discussion thread)
I prefer trust as opposed to faith. Everyone believes in things that they cannot see. Some are just to blind to realize it. You believe and have faith that your spouse doesn't cheat on you. You believe that you'll make it to work with out having an accident. You have faith that others know how to drive. You believe the sun will rise everyday because it happens everyday. Scientific facts and theories have all changed over the centuries and will continue to do so. The quest for knowledge has caused more trouble than it is worth. That is why birds don't have IPads. Knowledge of good has been used for evil more times than not. That is why there is no hunger, death, sickness, or poverty now! Yeah right. Our quest for knowledge, our quest to be god, our selfish pride of me,me,me, will be and is our downfall. We are satan until we deny ourself. Don't blame it on a snake! Blame yourself. You, and everyone else are to blame. Many don't mention God until something goes wrong and then they blame something that does not exist. You have to come to God now. He came down here. Showed how to love, be kind, even heal others. We killed Him. When you show true love, deny self, and proclaim the name of the Father, only then can you see.

Atheist arguments maybe a little offensive and ignorant at times, but I'd much rather deal with an atheist any day than a hypocrite pretending to be a Christian from the "Bible belt".

Take North Korea for instance. Indoctrinated from child to believe North Korea is the best country in the world, dear leader is a god among men, westerners are evil ect. Now these people believe this shit, to their very essence they believe it. You could not convince them otherwise.

Swap that with *insert religion here*, and *insert whatever horse shit you want people to believe here*, *add a punishment here for not believing* and voila tried and true way to get people to believe or do what you want.

Agnosticism has always been the most logical approach to me. It allows me to learn how the world works, how we got here and discuss openly what happens when we die without a bias towards proving anything.

I don't see how "the Creator" of all things, if he\she\it exists and has a humanistic personality, would not want us to use this time as a learning experience. Being closed minded on either side of that coin only forces us to resent what others can accept.

Not getting some pompous sot in a pulpit rich. Give your money to the government and those who need it. Give you life and your actions to God. If your kind and help others, your branded a weirdo. hey lets yap about what people think.

and not realize its just what people think.

and hope for someone to agree and at the same time get off even more when someone disagrees so i can keep yappin!! yay!

what good will it all be when you fuckers will be dead? honestly?

oh wait, when you die... no one knows, so we are back to square one... its just yappin....

people really do not value life itself anymore. they just want to keep yappin.

taking advantage of something given to you is the worst. so why take that thing and take advantage of it???

stay sane for once will you people!

realize your meaning of life and how its very short and nothing can determine that life other than the life you determine!

if you gaze on a omnipotent what is your purpose?

you have been given free will right? so omnipotent has no purpose their after!!

i know i know its hard to comprehend.... cuz after that you still have the 10 commandments... but yet you were given free will!

lets just all understand life and value life, not something you think you can validate and not validate.

life is now and life is never.

God broke love down into 10 easy to understand statements. He told us we couldn't be Him, but we were to stupid and selfish to believe Him. We still are. Look at technology for just the past 200 years. Has it really helped? No. We've been here before. We got this place flooded. We're gonna kill ourselves again. Be comfortable with yourself how you are. True joy is the happiness of others. True peace is the security of others. Life is nothing about you, but what you do. You don't plant an orchard for nothing. You plant an orchard to produce fruit. If it doesn't, you chop it down.

Re: A Christian's opinion about Atheists arguments against the existence of God. (Discussion thread)
The unfortunate fact is that Christianity is the faith to follow or any other “Man Made” religion for that matter is better to prove the idea that God is real. Christianity along with Islam, Judaism etc is false man made preconceived control tool by SATAN aka Hasatan. If you understand the beginning of the “Church” after Jesus “Yeshua” was crucified you will have a grasp of how to handle things. To prove or debate the fact of and existence of God is pointless. If someone believes or not is there own personal path. There is doubt in all their minds or they would not even have to profess there idea to disbelieve, if they do not believe there is no discussion.
Debate means there is something to debate about, if you believe there is no God then why debate it. Satan has managed to deceive the very elect about religion, he copied everything to a “T” to stray the people by any means necessary away from God. The persecution alone of Christians is insane because of the fact that Christians are missing the boat as well as the other religions are. They are all deception and Hasatan is total deception, sure some truth and error but add a few drops of poison to a glass of water and you have poisoned water not suitable to drink.
In order to believe you have to repent and pray for salvation and seek a relationship with the Lord and honor his feast days and Sabbath.
Read and meditate on the prophetic teachings in the Bible, it has predicted many things from the early books of law from Moses to being fulfilled in the Gospel. If you are not called by the Lord to believe there will be another chance in the second resurrection, or you can dismiss it all and go to the lake of fire and never worry about it again.
