"Did you know there are still 200 US nuclear weapons in Europe’s backyard? And worse, the UK is blocking efforts to remove them - 20 years after the end of the Cold War?
Global Zero student leaders have exposed Europe’s dirty little secret. They are leading the way, and they need your help before the NATO Summit of world leaders on 20th May: watch their brief video and make sure everyone finds out about this dirty little secret by sharing it with your friends!

Yes, that’s right: NATO has stationed 200 US nuclear weapons in Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Italy and Turkey. These weapons are relics of a bygone age: they are dangerous, useless and expensive and do not address today’s actual security threats. US nuclear weapons in Europe were deployed during the Cold War to target Soviet bloc countries and deter a Soviet invasion – but the countries that were targeted are now part of NATO. These nukes now have no targets – so why are they still there?
Germany has already called for the removal of these nukes from its territory, but our own government insists that they stay put – despite recently removing NATO’s nuclear weapons from the UK! Why would we deny the right of other Europeans to remove foreign nuclear weapons from their own soil?
With many European countries favouring their removal, this is a unique moment in the fight for a world without nuclear weapons. If, like us, you believe that it’s time to get these Cold War relics out of Europe, share this video with your friends and family to make sure this dirty little secret is exposed before the 20th May NATO Summit!

Thanks,

Many will not be onboard with this. That's fine. Of course there are threats to our ways of life, but no sane person can be fine with the horrors of the nuclear deterrent. I have visited Hiroshima, on the 60th anniversary of it being laid to waste. As I walked through Hiroshima Museum, the exhibits became more and more upsetting. Near the end, a little boy's charred tricycle; and a photograph of a 14 year old lying on the ground with melted skin.
For those who can agree, who believe that humans must rise out of our pit of ignorance and acceptance of violence, state sponsored or otherwise.. and who believe that we have a responsibility to give the next generation a better world to live in, please consider signing the petition above.
Also, this is the main campaign page, where you can sign up for the abolition of nuclear weapons worldwide.
