not necessarily. being radioactive, the isotopes can be measured by certain sattelite monitoring instruments and even infrared scopes depending on which chemical is being graphed. in fact it looks about right, if not under estimated

they are a simulation based on ocean currents, and detections of sea water via satelite using mathematical and computer modeling...
