The fire is not quenched because it is a result of a lack. Not having the presence of God in your life.

This word:
" αἰώνιον"

Is mistranslated as 'eternal'.

If I type in the english word 'eon', and use google translate to turn it into greek:

You get:
"αιών"
Which is similar to:
" αἰώνιον"
So the first four letters spell 'eon'.

An age. Of unknown length not 'eternal'.

Your translation is erroneous, and such an erroneous translation has hurt a great deal many souls as a result.

Besides, it says:
Matthew 5:26 "I tell you the Truth, you won't get out until you have paid the last penny"

Which clearly shows there is a condition for escape and ergo cannot be eternal.

The inconsistency of translation is more apparent here:
Luke 18:30
"ὃς οὐχὶ μὴ [ἀπο]λάβῃ πολλαπλασίονα ἐν τῷ καιρῷ τούτῳ καὶ ἐν τῷ αἰῶνι τῷ ἐρχομένῳ ζωὴν αἰώνιον. "

"αἰῶνι"
Translates as:
"century" (or eon)

But:
"αἰώνιον"
(Which is an extension by 2 letters)
Becomes eternal.

It's incredibly odd to base 'eternal' on two juxaposed letters that don't make sense in context, don't have any value denoting their actual length (century is a misnomer as 'cent' originates from latin for '100', which is where 'centurion' (commander of 100) comes from - this wouldn't have been the original greek interpretation).
