Maguyver User ID: 808852 United States 05/24/2012 03:53 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | My Porsche C4S has AWD. Wouldn't take it over the curb! (or a high speed bump for that matter.) But she corners like a hungry cheetah! My old FJ40 on the other hand, is much more comfortable crawling over boulders on Hells Revenge. Fun toy! The Suburban is truly a grocery getter...can traverse the occasional rutty back road when full of camping gear. Uber comfortable ride. The F250 PSD 4x4 crew is WAY to heavy and big for any serious back road or off road work, unless it's...well...work. The 4x4 is sure handy pulling the boat out of a slimey slick launch, though! A 4x4 for (most)every need! Wow! I am truly blessed!!! Not any vehicle is good at everything. Adversity is inevitable, misery is optional. Do or do not. There is no try. "The enemy will never attack where you are strongest...He will attack where you are weakest. If you do not know your weakest point, be certain, your enemy will." Sun Tzu |

Lester User ID: 5835835 United States 05/24/2012 05:16 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Have seen the 4x4 Suzys as tow vehicle behind motorhome. They are about the closest thing to an early 60s Jeep CJ you can still buy. Dunno about rock crawling and all the HD mods guys that drive the desert trails out West would need, but for a compact rough terrain capable vehicle, I'd say Suzy has The Ticket... Owned a subaru in the 80s, was not impressed. Own 2 3/4 ton 4bys currently Would not have a half-ton. Had a 350 Blazer 4by w/4spd bought new in 76, was pretty decent, but prefer Suburban or full-size truck now. None of these vehicles will "go anywhere"... For that you need a 6x6 or an Argo, maybe a 6x6 with cat treads on the rear wheel pairs... 3500 lb winch will lift it wherever it can't climb, IF you got the battery reserve... I would not drive a small car 4x4 or otherwise in snow, much less on ice. If you're concern is mud, you make sure you have enough wheel-well clearance to run HD real Mud Chains and even a 2by will go almost anywhere. A one ton crew cab 4by with a super HD winch, like 12K pounds Super HD battery would be The Ticket for outback rough-country travel. Might look at www.turtleexpedition.com The only reason for 4x4 is to get the transfer case and super low gearing. Winch is what will do the real work, at least when you can't see a bottom to the crap you're trying to drive through... Shoebox size cars just get you killed in a collision. |

Brilliant! This helps immensely in not spilling your beer and dropping your cigarette while driving in the bush. Im talkin old school model 96 disco. Very Impressed |
