Australian Federal Police have started a formal investigation into the release of a video showing Kevin Rudd swearing during his time as PM

The video was leaked just before the leadership battle between Mr Rudd and Julia Gillard earlier this year.

Some of Mr Rudd's supporters blamed Ms Gillard's office for releasing the video, although Ms Gillard said that was untrue.

Police initially said they were assessing material connected to the leak, but they now say they are investigating the matter.
