You only need enough preps for 30 days. After that most of the population will have been killed off and their will plenty left.
Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1585965 I think they'll last longer than that. Desperate people can become creative. But I wouldn't give them more than 6 months, tops. But after 6 months, I'd assume the survivors would be more organized and more ruthless, which is potentially more threatening in the long run.
