Crop Circles Discovered in Sabine Pass

The tiny town of Sabine Pass was hit hard by Hurricane Rita. While clean up in the community is well under way, residents there believed they have discovered something extra special.

“I don`t think anything like that`s ever happened here before,” Patricia Deslatte, a 13 year resident of Sabine Pass said standing along Texas Highway 87.

Desalette isn’t sure what made the huge indention in the marsh along the highway, but she doesn’t believe it was man made.

“I think it`s awesome. I mean what could it be? Who knows? It`s a mystery,” Patricia said pointing to the field.

Deslatte was one of the first people to see the crop circle that has everyone in town talking. She says it measures 40 feet into diameter and sits just north of town.

“Who`s to say we`re the only people on the universe as vast as the universe is. It just has to be, it has to be,” Deslatte said shrugging her sholders.

Not everyone is so quick to buy in to the E.T. theory.

“There are something like 3 or 4 hundred of these a year now, “ Port Neches grove planetarium director Scott Williams said. Williams says of the hundreds of reported circles, none have been proven produced by aliens.

“There is a little area from the side jetting out toward the middle that`s where somebody stood,” Williams said.

While he discounts the alien theory, Williams says the circles are easily produced by wearing snow shoes or boards.

“Either a high school class is studying crop circles somewhere in the area... or the movie Signs is playing on the cable somewhere, Williams said with a slight smile.

Meanwhile, Deslatte isn’t budging on her belief that the circles may have been left as a signs from those living in the great beyond.

“It`s scary, but it`s awesome to, because it`s ah you don`t know what it` is it`s unidentified, “ Patricia said with a huge smile.

Residents say experts who study circles from other states will be in the area to confirm or discount the circles.
