Excellent advice redrosie. I spent a lot of the afternoon opening up brocolli and radish seeds. I usually let several plants go to seed at the end of the season for the next planting. I'm beginning to become leery of purchasing seeds now. Monsanto is buying a lot of the heirloom seeds, and I don't trust them anymore. At lease if I save my own seed, I know what they are.

You would be surprised at the "heirloom" seeds you are growing. Monsanto owns a lot of them, but as long as they are open pollinated, so far M can't keep you from saving the seed.

What else is new, then there's also the pesticides and fertilizers on grown foods and such too.

My family's started boycotting the products of a local company that makes probably the majority of products that helps makes your lawn look ' nice and green' in the the state of Ohio.
Why? majority of the people who lives near the plant they make the products at have gotten ill with cancer or just dropped dead.
Something my dad, who used to work in the plant and is now diagnosed with COPD and has had surgery to remove a cancerous growth, mentioned when I've pointed out that we have had more wildlife visiting our yard than our neighbors. We stopped using the products and haven't used them since we were notified by the doctor of what my dad has.

Kinda funny how we're maybe looking only at the chemicals in the processed foods but yet what about the organic grown/home grown foods being sprayed with these sorts of things?

But you've gotta have that green lawn.

Of course if you connect the dots on every food product and did some digging you'll find that these days it's practically hard to find something not meant to make you sick or die.
Unless you avoid the pesticides and fertilizers and grow your own food.

They want us ignorant and dumbed down to a point where we're easy to manipulate. Small groups are easier to control.

Ferry Morris was very loud the other day on thee fb they were not supporting Monsanto or what they do and listed why .. so I like there green house starters and seeds .. I also bought seeds of change this year .. seem good ..

I'm so sorry your family is going through that with your dad. And after all his years of service to the company, to think that is how he is repayed.

We use organic methods in our garden, and no chemicals or fertilizers on our grass. Not only would it poison my garden, but my chickens are free-range, so it would be detrimental to their well being (and ours, eating the eggs and meat). However, there are some farmers around us who keep hiring these blasted crop dusters. Auggghhh!

Yeah coz fucking around with the genes of crops is a natural thing to do.

The only safe food is what you grow yourself. This is why I am starting my veggie garden and natural remedies garden. I intend to never have to go out and buy veggies again.

I may have fell asleep on your words.. right with ya .. and my kids are trying to convince me to jump rope, but they don't know how to swing it yet .. if I die remember me lol ..

LOL!! Teach them some of the songs to get the rhythm down. I remember a line of us at recess waiting to "run in". I never see kids jumping rope anymore. So sad :( Oh, and you'll be fine, and it just might become a daily activity that you drag your kids out to play with you! Life is good... Come to think of it, I should get off this computer and get my little munchkin out and teach him to jump rope.

You're not going to live forever, and you're extremely lucky to be alive in this day and age. There are no government conspiracies, or corporate conspiracies. There is only paranoia. Wake up! You have nothing to fear but fear itself. Cast away your ego-based negativities and see that we are all one. Nobody is out to get you except that ego inside your head that tells you everybody else is less important than you.

BLAME WHOLE FOODS! Those fuckers killed the small organic farmers and killed co-ops and small natural food stores. As soon as they bought them all out they fucked over the organic growers in favor of walmart quality crap labeled "natural"

Yeah, they appear to have become part of the big corporation syndrome. Not really in-tune with the original ideas they began with.

In the beginning they had a good store now most the hit their is overpriced walmart food. Barely any organic left and the stuff that is organic can't be trusted.

Really! Did you read the link? In that article it says how they caved and stated that organics and gmo's can co-exist. Whole Foods, Stoneyfield and Organic Valley. Couldn't believe it when I read it. Now when you walk into their store, you cannot trust that they are not selling you gmo's. We can co-exist, right? Hmmmph!

Agree! It really pisses me off because there is nowhere else to go. Every other natural food place in town has been closed. There was a wild oats but whole foods bought them all and closed them.

Wow - I didn't realize they were buying out the other whole foods stores. I guess they got the smell of money, just like a lot of the other big corporations, and are trying to move toward a monopoly. Luckily, more and more people are screaming organics, so our local HEB and Kroger's now has a pretty nice selection of organics, so I'm able to bypass Whole Foods.
