My husband and I are from California and moved to Colorado in 2008, when the economy went to crap. We moved back to California last June to be close to our family. We knew it was going to be rough, but it just sucks.

My husband is an HVAC tech and can't find a job. He's found tons of small jobs, but the pay is barely over minimum wage and they only last for a few days.

This is SO freaking frustrating!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm having a hard times getting a job that I'm over qualified for. I have a associate degree in business and can't even get a shit asst retail manager job.

I hated Cali when I was stationed there, cost of living is insane. My dad has worked in HVAC since I was a kid and I worked at it for about 3 years..PLENTY of HVAC jobs down here in the south! Best of luck to you both, but I'd move.

I was a cook with over 8 years of experience and the fact that I have not worked in the industry for 2 years means my resume might as well go directly in their trash. I made Pizzas for over three years at extremely high volume with extreme attention to food cost and quality and they think because I did not do this exactly yesterday that it means I am some sort of idiot that can't measure cheese properly anymore.

Thanks for the info. We have started talking about maybe moving again, but all of our family is here in California. The other thing we're thinking of is maybe having hubby go chase storms for the summer. He's been a roofer for most of his working life and could go make money in other states this summer and just send the money back home.

We've got a little piece of property down in the south and it should would be nice to head down there and build a little house. It's way in the backwoods. If things get too rough, that's where we're going.

If your husband is HVAC certified, it's a shame to waste that. My best friend makes over 20 bucks an hour, which may not sound like much in Cali, but is a good living down here. Of course, down here it's hot and humid enough to need AC about eight months outta the year, lol.
