Question for Sabbath Keepers
I have been a long time student of the Bible and have been trying to "come out" of organized religion for a long time. I have come to know that for me I must follow the rules of the Bible that God gave us. What I have done:
pretty much been giving up the pagan Holidays a little by liitle each year. This year I told family that I would not participate in the exchanging of gifts. I have not decorated for many years in my own home, but do go to visit for family sake. Follow the dietary laws for the health of it. Started passover. know about Sabbath but have had a hard time with it because my work involves weekends most of the time. MY QUESTION. How do Sabbath Keepers keep the Sabbath. What do you do on that day? Also what about the feasts? How does one keeep them without any support? I am the only one in my family who wants to follow this direction. My goal is to obey the LORD, ant tips?

Re: Question for Sabbath Keepers
You could become an Orthodox Jew. You would find support there...

Or maybe, when Jesus said that he came not to destroy the laws, but fulfill them, that released you from your obligation.

I know that many people do not accept the Gospel of Thomas, but it that, Jesus told his disciples, "Do not do what you despise."

Good Luck....

I donīt know about the Sabbath.

But Iīve been trying to follow the dietary laws, and the people at home keep getting angry at me, like theyīll serve me pig, and then get angry that I donīt want to eat it. Then they think Iīm trying to be better than them by not eating pig. :(

I had a little bit of that myself, but, now for over a year I have been just doing it and not talking about it, and it no longer is an issue.
I think it is better for me too, I dont really worry about my weight at all anymore. It stays the same. And not eating pork or other stuff, really was not that hard to give up.

I do not think I could be an Orthodox Jew because I believe in Yeshua. Also I just want to follow GOds Laws, not the Doctrines of man. It seems that most religions are mixed with the doctrines of man. It takes great discernment.

Re: Question for Sabbath Keepers
As for eating pork, the Lord told Peter, "Do not call unclean that which I have made clean."

You would be wise to heed those words. If youīd rather not eat pork, thatīs fine. Your choice.

As for keeping the Sabbath, itīs nearly impossible to do that, whether one chooses either Saturday or Sunday. I try not to visit establishments that are open on Sunday because commerce is being done on that day, causing families to be separated while one member works. I do not wish to be part of the problem.

Reading the book of Ezra gave me an understanding that economic well-being is lost when the Sabbath is not honored. Look at us today! Some choice! The Spiritual law has been cast aside for money.

There should be one day set aside to honor the Lord but, again, things being what they are, it is mo$t difficult to do. Itī$ the time$.

There has been a great falling away in this country from the days when the Sabbath was honored.

Things being as they are:

Col:2;16: Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:

Re: Question for Sabbath Keepers
By loving one another you are spiritually keeping the Sabbath and fulfilling all of the law all day every day.

Sabbath 7th Day rest is a state of mind.To not work on the Sabbath means that you know that love fulfills the law, you are in bondage to no tradition of man, and you are spiritually at rest with Jesus Christ. You can physically celebrate it on a day however you choose.People are not to argue about what to do on those days.

I choose to physically celebrate the 7 Feasts of the Judean Menorah for my yearly holy days. I will just invite my pagan family and friends and whomever comes is fine. After I see who is coming then I will coordinate with everyone to bring a dish to eat for a feast. As for the weekly Sabbath I just light 7 candles and have a nice dinner with the family.Sure will be nice when everyone is doing these things and we donīt have to argue with the pagans about the debt creating gift giving sun god holidays.

As we transition to the Kingdom of Heaven on Earth and people come out of their Babylon pagan ways, it will be tough dealing with our blind pagan family and friends.Just be a rock like Christ and be patient and talk with them and help them understand if they choose.

It was Solomon who wrote, "All is vanity and a chase after the wind."

People do a lot of things to satisfy self, thinking themselves to be "holy" and pleasing to God. That would be OK if they left others to love God and Neighbor as they are led to do so, which is ALL THE LAW anyway.

So if you want to light candles, celebrate feasts, whatever, then just do it. Just remember, you are basically pleasing self, not that the "feasts" with family and friends arenīt enjoyable. God has no need of such.

But God wants those who worship in truth. Those Feasts are the true ones.

John 4:23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.

We are free to celebrate the Feasts however we choose.

Re: Question for Sabbath Keepers
Magical,

I am a Sabbath keeper. We have kept it by ourselves for about 9 months now. Our church disbanded back in March because of the doctrinal changes we decided to make.

Here are some helps -

1. Saturday is the 7th day of the week. God rested on the 7th day. We stop our regular work at sunset. You can still cook. But, regular housework or work you are paid to do you shouldnīt be doing. This is a long process if you are converting & have worked with an employer for any great length of time. Some might be understanding, some might fire you. If you remember, you application might have said "we discriminate on the basis of religion, etc.". If so, you can use that to your advantage. Offer to work after sunset & on Sundays.

2. There are 10 annual festivals. Most Churches of God only keep 7 or 8. But there are 10. There is the Lordīs Supper which is the night before Passover. This is leading up to the Days of Unleavened Bread. Then there is Passover, this is a very special night. This represents the night that all of the first born were killed in Egpyt & also the night that Pharoah said the Israelites could leave. Then the first Day of Unelavened Bread. This is an annual Sabbath. Meaning, you donīt do any regular work this day. And also, you must remove ALL leavening from your home. (yeast, baking powder, baking soda, anything with dicalcium phosphate) I can locate a web page that has a listing of all the leavening ingredients. If your family in your home chooses not to do this, then just de-leaven a part of your home for you during this week. This is a festival for 7 days. During this week, there is a also a day called the Festival of First Fruits, this falls on the Sunday during the days of unleavened Bread. Not an annual Sabbath, but it is an appointment with God. You can find all these festivals in Lev. 23. There are many more festivals to look forward to celebrating. They are a JOY to keep. We are keeping Hanukkah right now. The last night is tomorrow night.
(goto www.godthefather.us & click on the button "hostess" & I can explain everything to you in greater detail.)

3. Your family will see your light once you start following God. They may eventually change, but it will take time. We donīt celebrate the pagan holidays. We donīt even visit my family on those pagan days. Thanksgiving, Fourth of July, Memorial Day are perfectly fine to celebrate. There is nothing wrong there. New Yearīs, Valentineīs Day, St. Patricks, Easter, May Day, Halloween & Xmas are BIG no noīs. Even going to eat the dinner on Xmas shouldnīt be done.

I hope I have helped out somewhat. Changing your life to follow God can be overwhelming. There is also the keeping of New Moons. (which is tonight by the way) This isnīt the conjunction but the first "crescent" that is seen from Israel. Visit www.karaite-korner for more info on this.

Orthodox Judiasm has its drawbacks. They do somethings right. But donīt accept Jesus as the Messiah. Messianic Jews do a lot more things correctly but still have some drawbacks. We try to follow everything by the bible. BUT there are somethings that canīt be done. We canīt do sacrifices, because there is NO temple & NO levitical priests. But AFTER Jesus returns, the sacrifices will resume. (Eze. 43) ALL will keep the Feast of Tabernacles AFTER Jesus returns, Zech. 14:16.

I suggest you get paltalk. (www.paltalk.com) There is a torah observant chat room in which is mostly biblically based. My husband & I are usually in there on the Sabbath participating in the bible study. Youīll recognize me. Same name there as here.

Keep asking questions, Iīll be glad to help you anyway I can. Iīve been following Godsī way for almost 20 years now.

Shabbat Shalom!

Happy Sabbath!

Mopar still has not learned that love fulfills ALL the law.Still in bondage to traditions of the Pharisees.Like I said before, Sabbath rest is a state of mind of knowing love fulfills ALL the law. You can physically celebrate the Feasts however you choose.Jesus gives us that freedom. The dietary laws were to keep Godīs people from fallen spiritual ways(mind food). You can eat whatever physical food you want as long as it doesnīt kill you.Isnīt it nice worshipping God in spirit instead of physical as mopar does because she is caught up in Pharisee teachings?Mopar should listen to Jesus and be free.I have to go eat some pork chops now.Free is nice. Thanks Jesus.

Re: Question for Sabbath Keepers
"...when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth..."

That has nothing to do with lighting candles, not eating certain foods, or keeping new moons and such that only satisfy the individual. God does NOT require that sort of "worship".

He only requires that we take care of the widows and the orphans, feed the hungry, clothe the naked, give water to the thirsty. Lighting candles and just wishing these people well does nothing to fill the NEED. That is our mission.

Jesus said that if you will love God with all of your heart, mind, soul and strength and your neighbor as yourself, you have fulfilled the Law. Everything else is for your own personal satisfaction...like the Pharisees of old kept the "law" scrupulously. Jesus called them hypocrites. Go figure.

I do this everyday just about. If you spiritually feed the poor then that will eventually solve the problem of the physical poor. A monetarily rich man can be very spiritually poor. Concentrate on spiritually feeding these type people and heal them then eventually the physical poor problem will disappear. For example, the Rothschilds are very rich physically but very poor spiritually.

Well the Bible says God is a spirit of truth. So that includes what you say Jennifer.

Psalm 31:5 Into thine hand I commit my spirit: thou hast redeemed me, O LORD God of truth.

John 4:24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

Then the Feasts of truth just tell us to avoid religions of man and love one another and truth. So really, God is pretty simple and direct.
So do you now understand God better?

Most of us would classify that as being a cult. David Karesh (?) and his "family" were considered as being a cult. This is NOT true Christianity.

Jesus did, indeed, as one poster wrote, set us FREE from such observances. Oh, well. You can take the people out of Egypt (darkness), but itīs really hard to get Egypt out of the people, I guess because many still like ritual.

Re: Question for Sabbath Keepers
The 7th Day is a state of mind and once you get there you have eternal spiritual life with the LORD.

First off, love one another and truth fulfills the law of God.Jesus tells you this.I say nothing new.All those manmade religions out there are just frauds.Terminate them from your mind.Your mind is now a clean slate.

Secondly, if you love truth and search for it then you will find it and it will set you free.If you love truth you will find the Feasts of the LORD and you will be raised up on the 7TH Day which is the Last Great Day. God wants people who worship in spirit and in TRUTH. Don’t forget TRUTH.

There are 7 spiritual Days to the Lamp of the LORD Jesus Christ.

First one is Passover.Accept that Jesus leads you to spiritual life with the LORD.The LORD of the Old Testament and Jesus of the New Testament are the same. That is why Jesus is LORD.

Second one, Feast of Unleavened Bread. All them false religions out there are SINS.This Feast represents spiritually removing those SINS from your mind.We did that earlier in the post.Your mind is now a clean slate.

Third one, Pentecost. Represents your spiritual marriage to the true ways of the LORD.By doing these things you are spiritually married to the church of the LORD.You have been raised from the spiritually blind and dead.

Fourth one, Feast of Trumpets.Represents your spiritual rebirth and is the first day of your new spiritual body with the LORD. Spiritual New year.

Fifth one, Day of Atonement.Represents when you have repented from your SINS and are now at one with the LORD.

Sixth day, Feast of Tabernacles. Reminds you to spiritually live in small huts.To be humble. This is a gift from the LORD.

Seventh day, the Last Great Day.This represents your new raised up spiritual body that is restored and at rest with the LORD Jesus Christ. You now spiritually see the LORD and the LORD is truly with you.The Kingdom of Heaven is inside you and you have eternal spiritual life with the LORD if you accept it and live it.This is the key to entering New Jerusalem.

Once everyone learns these things we will get the Kingdom of Heaven on Earth free from all of the different manmade lie cults. God’s temple is your mind and the Kingdom of Heaven is within it. There will be no more confusion over religion and all mental illness and the war and suffering they cause will be eliminated. When we physically celebrate the LORD’s Days on the calendar, we are not to argue about how we do it. You have the freedom to celebrate them however you choose.Just remember their spiritual meanings and you will have eternal spiritual life with the LORD Jesus Christ.
