Fireball over Austin, TX around Midnight 5/22-23

I was just outside, on 71 driving west, in Austin, and disappointed I missed it somehow...


I have seen one like the one you described out by Lake Travis one night a couple of years ago. It was so bright it scared me while driving, that I was going to be hit, it flashed different colors, and the exploded, twice.

Look on the American Meteor Society website to corroborate and make reports.

I'm in Round Rock and heard the sonic boom. But since I was naked at the time, I could not run outside and look.

I just saw a video on youtube a few minutes ago where there was 3 fireballs in the Arizona sky around 7 or so. Heres a link, the dudes freakin' out in this video though.

I think I saw that one, too. It was so close I could hear it hissing and spitting. Looked like it went down over Balcones Canyonlands on the north shore. I believe it was part of the Lyrids, if I remember correctly. I was out meteor gazing at the time. That was the biggest meteor I've ever seen. The one tonight was the second biggest, but the explosion was really something.

It's sundown. Those are three aircraft at altitude, their contrails lit up by the setting sun... Meteors travel much faster than that.

I saw it in Wimberley TX
Huge green/blue with large visible smoke trail, then faded out, with no noise.

This was pretty clearly a larger than normal meteor, not a UFO. When I see a UFO again, I will report it to your site. We had a lot of UFO activity two years ago over Lake Travis, none so far this year that I know of.

On March 8th 2012(Mars was brightest in the sky) at approximately 9pm, it was a full moon this night, my 13 year old son called me from his cell phone screaming at me to come outside and to look up in the sky.

I ran outside and met him in the street where we both witnessed the sky full with hundreds of red lit up UFO’s slowly hovering a few miles up in the sky, first flying all around in an unorganized fashion, then all but about 20 of them faded away, then the remaining 20 came together and made an upside down V formation, and they joined together as one ship, and then about 20 seconds later they faded away, not flew away, faded away, and disappeared in to thin air.

Neither of us has ever seen anything like this before and both of us will swear to it under oath, they were real not an illusion.

Ps, guys, apparently lots of people saw something in the sky over North and Central Texas on the nights of May 22 and May 23. A meteor watch site thinks it was a meteor:
