Re: Mainstream News Site Announces Energy Breakthrough
They have announced 100's of so called breakthroughs over the years, none of them actuallly made it to the market. This one is no different. It's just a ploy to keep peoples hopes up and steal their money while they are still filling the tanks of their gasgusslers.
 Quoting: Vierkantebroek

this is era pf peak oil so these types of discoveries have to be announced.
global oil supplies are in severe decline despite all the claims.
nobody have verified oil fields of saudi arabia,iran etc.
nothing can replace crude oil,nothing.
even coal is not perfect anwer because you have to burn huge quantities of coal to produce energy
nuclear power is 10-100 times costly than crude oil..so it will not be economical
start planning your future

But this was already done by a guy in California. Somehow, his lab "blew up" and it killed him right after he made his announcement that got like zero attention. I'll have to go back through the threads, because I know I read about it here.

there could be free energy for everyone on earth, there have been talks about it since the 70's, the sheeple have no idea about it.

the only problem is, governments would not make money
electric companies would not make money.

so its not going to happen this lifetime....

This thread is like an intelligence test. If you responded to it, assuming that it was true, that a "Mainstream News Site Announces Energy Breakthrough" then you've failed the test.

In case you're confused, and I assume if you believed this you are frequently confused, this was not a bit of news, but a "Press Release".

Websites like Market Watch (and ADVFN and a million others) publish corporate press releases without in fact testing that they are true. For extremely obvious reasons.

To protect themselves they clearly label them as "Press Release".

So how'd you do? Did you pass or fail?

"IEEE has a dual complementary regional and technical structure - with organizational units based on geography and technical focus. It manages a separate organizational unit (IEEE-USA) which recommends policies and implements programs specifically intended to benefit the members, the profession and the public in the United States.

IEEE is organized into:

333 local sections in 10 geographic regions;
more than 2,080 chapters comprised of local members with similar technical interests;
38 societies and 7 technical councils that compose 10 technical divisions;
nearly 2000 student branches at colleges and universities in 80 countries;

"We present a wearable health system (WHS) for non-invasive and wireless monitoring of physiological signals. The system is made as an electronic patch where sensors, low power electronics, and radio communication are integrated in an adhesive material of hydrocolloid polymer making it a sticking patch. The patch is made with a reusable part and a disposable part which contains the adhesive material and the battery. This part is changed once every week. The patch has a size of 88 mm by 60 mm and a thickness of 5 mm. It is made for attachment on truncus or the greater muscle groups. The patch is demonstrated in two applications: Monitoring of electromyography (EMG) and arterial oxygen saturation by pulse oximetry (SpO2). The pulse oximetry sensor is made of a concentric backside Silicon photodiode with a hole in the middle for the two light sources. This makes it suitable for reflectance pulse oximetry. For the EMG application three standard dry silver electrodes are used separated by 10 mm."

Think about this. Saw a weather channel satellite photo of the air pollution over China caused by "big oil", the "oil economy". Think about the impact of that pollution on the lives of the Chinese people, and all the other people in large cities where they breath in these toxic chemicals from the combustion engine economy created by "big oil"! Number one cause of breathing related diseases in big cities is related to the "big oil" economy! How many people have suffered and died as a result of this wonderful economy? The air pollution from China drifts all the way over the Pacific Ocean and ends up where? Right here in the good ole USA! Gives meaning to the phrase what goes around comes around! so basically...

he's created a fuel cell. but instead of turning oxygen and hydrogen into electricty...

do i have this correct?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 16083263

Reminds me of Kent talking about this many years ago, why are trying so hard to convert things into hydrogen when water is full of it already.

[link to www.cyberspaceorbit.com]
 Quoting: MacElroy

It takes energy to turn water into hydrogen and oxygen. So theoretically we could have solar power plants that partly powered the electric grid, and stored energy in the form of hydrogen, to be transported. (gravity storage systems are the most efficient, safe, clean, etc for storing power. Almost 1-- percent efficiency)

However, its REALLY dangerous and uneconomical to transport hydrogen. That's the problem. It blows up. That's it.

So cars can't really run on water, or hydrogen.

Theoretically, all these claims about guys running cars on water... what they are claiming is that they did something to the water to make it burnable. Basically turning water into water-gasoline.

Why is this useful? Because its easy to transport.

However, it still takes energy to change the water into water-gasoline. You don't just magically get all this energy out of water. But the conversion process could happen at solar power plants.

There's another theory going around for using water. Catalyst theory. Basically there's LENR (colf fusion) claiming they use a catalyst to get some kind of energy from water. And then other people claiming if they could find the right catalyst and electrical resonance, then it actually takes less energy for hydrolysis than you get back.

I think the Catalyst theories hold a lot of promise as well. Catalysts are awesome. We use them in almost all useful chemical reactions anyway.

A catalyst is something that makes a reaction occur or occur better, without any detectable change to the catalyst.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 16083263

It's not a subject change, we are talking about problem and solution in energy...

Don't know about the Italian thingy, but what usually happens is the inventors end up realizing that their theory ends up requiring more energy than it puts out...and burning hydrocarbons is the cheapest and most abundant energy source...
