i assume his family emigrated to america relatively recently so he has no basis to approach reality

all the books in continental europe were burned in WW2 and lots of families slaughtered there

over here there are families that have been around since the start and still and know what is up. same was true in the middle east, especially over in afghanistan before the last decade of war.
