This is raw fruits, vegetables, seeds, nuts, sprouts and dehydrated crackers, almond butter etc.... You can have delicious meals made of raw food with very little cooking. For instance, I follow a "flavor per calorie" diet. As you notice the chemical foods have very little actual flavor. Breads, pasta, none of that in my diet. For my lunch today I am having: Sun dried tomato slices, a chunk of Vermont white cheddar cheese, three slices of salami, and a chocolate bar (90% chocolate, second ingredient being cane sugar) For dinner I am having: Field green salad with a sprinkling of sausage for flavor, a quarter of a small rotisserie chicken with whipped avocado. Kick ass, right? Instead of sour cream I use greek yogurt with a squeeze of lemon. |

Ill even post the recipes on here if I have time Quoting: Awakened In Christ I would be glad to see some recipes too, particularly those you have tried and had some success with! I'm doing the same thing this summer, though alas, not quite so lavishly as you are. I live a long way from any city, indeed am more than an hour's drive from any grocery store, so I can't just run down to the store to grab what I want for the night's meal. I get two trips a month and that's that. I've planted a few greens at home to supplement because they're so hard to find and too expensive to buy. Perhaps I shan't shrink to the size of a gerbil by the time winter comes. My biggest "challenge" is that I must continue to cook for my cats and dogs, who are obviously not vegetarians. I am unable to get all the holistic brands for food for them where I live now, at any price, so I took to making some of them myself. What I was doing before was simply eating some of what I fixed for them, before I stirred things into it I wouldn't like myself, but I cannot say I have thrived upon it so now I'm doing the cleansing. |

Awesome to hear about your upcoming diet changes, you'll feel much healthier as a result! Most people don't jump into 100% raw overnight, they will do anywhere from 50 percent to 80 percent raw and still see dramatic results in reference to their health! It does make it more challenging to live further away from the store but planting a garden is probably even better because you know what your growing with or without pesticides. I hope to be sharing some raw food recipes soon so keep an eye out. Looking like a gerbil is not my goal lol more like a gazelle ! Wow you cook for your pets! I think I will be doing the same in a few months but I can never go 100% raw, I think I can do 70/30% though. If you want to include meat have you thought of getting a dehydrator? Now mind you I knew better, I used to be an avid juicer and raw foodist but fell off the raw food wagon and proceeded to embalm my temple with unhealthy, chemical ridden food if you can call it that. So last night I picked up some hemp protein, vibrant greens, blackberries, strawberries and ripe watermelon from a local farmer. Quoting: Awakened In Christ God willing I plan to post on GLP everyday for 30 days. I challenge everyone to make changes in your diet even if they are subtle ones, your body, mind and spirit will thank you! Before Breakfast: Brushed teeth with aluminum free baking soda and did an coconut oil pulling for 15 mins. DAY 1 Breakfast: 1 scoop of hemp protein 2 tablespoons Navitas Superfood Blend 2 tablespoons of ground flax seeds 1 scoop of Vibrant Health Green Vibrance Greens. 6 Blackberries 6 Strawberries Blended in 16 ounces of purified, reverse osmosis water. Enjoyed the feeling of nutrition penetrating my cells! OP- would you please explain the 'coconut oil pulling'? I use coconut oil on a daily as a moisturizer. A very little goes a long, long way...I also use it as an eye make-up remover. I too am looking forward to recipes. I tried raw a year or so ago & found it too time consuming, especially in the A.M. I know, I know better planning was required. You might just encourage me to make a return visit to that life-style. This would also make fasting much easier. No matter what I give thanks to God for providing my nourishment. Snack: Watermelon Heading to the store for some dark leafy greens, nuts and seeds! Have a wonderfully blessed day and here's to your health!!!! |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 16615151 United States 05/26/2012 01:28 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | @ Awakened, thank you for a very kind and encouraging post and God bless you too. @ Charlie, I want to talk about carrots. I live more than a hundred miles from a health food store, natural co-op or anything similar. The only 'organic' carrots I can get closer are at the groceries in Spingerville, AZ (I'm in the wilds of Catron County, NM) and those only came in 2-pound packs. Here was my surprise: I put two pounds in my juicer (just a basket type, because my Champion got stolen a decade ago) and got no more juice than an 8 oz jam jar would hold! I remember years ago, when I'd go on a juice fast, I got that much juice with just one pound of carrots and with a juicer no better that what I have now! Have you noticed any difference in the carrots in your own area? I don't have any melon this month, let alone kiwi and shall have to wait till next but your dressing sounds lovely. So, let's improvise: how about a spoonful of raw tahini, a handful of raisins, a piece of onion and a dash of lemon juice in the blender, mixed with that carrot juice? I might also add a pinch of cinnamon and clove as these are good for you. |
