Think about one of the new computer viruses being used against the US. Stuxnex is being studied and improved upon by many non-Western nations and it is only a matter of time before a newer version is developed. Wouldn't you want that kind of intelligence monitored from a vast array of nations, you know more eyes to see whether one is being released? This is why Russia and China are worried, they do not want a devastating virus attacking volatile weapons systems, nuke plants, grids, you name it. This is not about keeping tabs on individual citizens. Sorry to say, but this is a real threat as for national security. |
