I think the problem is more related to bad parenting being a cultural disease. Parents should steer kids away from rap that pushes the pimpin life style. There are lots of positive rappers out there to provide balance. I'm not a rap fan but I appreciate the artists that go against the grain of demoralizing our society.

Truly good musical talent requires several things:
1. Ability to play an instrument or sing.
2. This ability requires precision execution in terms of intonation, meter and tempo.

If you master these things, which take years of study and practice, then you can call yourself a talented musician.

Rap eliminates all these requirements thus allowing any hack to call himself a recording artist.

Rap music requires no ability to play an instrument. Rap requires no ability to play with proper intonation. Rap requires no ability to play with precise tempo or meter. Rap requires no ability to sing.
