HI George, any pointers on best places to live in Texas?
I want a place where I can grow a semi tropical garden, make myself a safe little sanctuary away from noise..
What kind of snakes do you have there? Any Black Widow spiders?

1) Generally, Anywhere south of Austin, Texas . . .
2) Every snake found in US is found in Texas . . . but in 25 years living here have never come close to being bitten by one . . .
3) There are tons of good quiet places to live in Texas . . . the question is what do you want in the way of cost, terrain, elevation, shopping, entertainment . . . if you give me some hints I could possibly give you some recommendations . . .
4) Black widow spiders . . . yes . . .

Somewhere not far from College Station.

What are the property taxes like there? how homeowners insurance, is it way expensive like Florida because of hurricanes?

Vt . . . homeowners in Tx run a bit over average because of Mold damage issues . . . everything else should be cheaper than average . . . no state income tax, no sale tax on food or medicines. . . . property except for a few local exceptions should be cheaper than average . . .don't know much about College Station area but think it is easy to live in that area . . .

So mold is a problem? Do houses have basements with sump pumps?

Mold is probably no more a problem than in the Southeastern US . . . most of the homes less than 50 yrs old are slab construction so basements in most areas are rare . . . except for the coastal areas which College Station is not sump pumps are not needed . . .

I've looked at plenty of older houses here with mold problems and very bad foundations.

Are you in College Station right now? I would recommend farther west . . . unless you are set on College Station . . . Kerrville, Fredericksburg, Comfort, Boerne, New Braunfels, are good places . . .

I'm still here in Vermont..Trying to gain insight where to move next. Texas is on the list because my daughter is there now.

Then . . . I think the recommendations above are the best . . . especially if your daughter is in Austin . . .

when I was about 8 I could hear chanting in my room at night, I told my mother and she thought it was satanic kinda freaked so I never spoke of it again, but about 12 years later we found out that piece of land was native land.

I have people talk with me at night its like they know I can hear them and they keep me awake sometimes. I can't always make out what they are saying as I try to tune it out. It gets bad sometimes and I have them yell right in my ear.

The most beautiful thing I hear is music, its not from this world that I remember. It is the sweetest thing that I experience with this.

Its kind of frustrating because its just a low chatter most of the time.

Its like I am hearing them through a thickness of some kind.

Thats it, not that big of a deal to me, I can't seem to do anything with it.
