Since it's getting closer to the end I would say it is end time demonic activity.

each of these 'legal' drug alternative crazes are created and monitored by the government, or at least a handful of the elite. think about it:

Salvia was first, and the many youtube videos prove that kids that are on it become completely wiped of a reality literally. they come back from it slightly paranoid with a new understanding of reality, but most turn out fine.

next was the "synthetic marijuana" that is just incense basically, sprayed with synethic chemicals which 'mimic THC', though no one knows all of the different kinds and what they do since every brand is different. Kids on this get super spacey, and some end up having heart attacks, or just simply dying, getting strange tumors and cancers and having insane bouts of paranoia.

after that kinda failed, they create this new "Bath Salt" craze, which is just a pure synthetic chemical which mimics the way that Meth and Cocaine bind to the receptors in the brain, but these chemicals are completely different...giving the user an intense paranoia and craving for more of the drug to 'stay normal'...this leads to an eventual overdose, which causes the subject to have a super high internal temperature, forcing him/her to take off their clothes, and the drugs effects cause the user to feel like they have been possessed by demons literally, and must fight back urges to eat other people...some actually DO eat other people...

id say that the Bath Salts are a pretty good turn out if their goal was to target the desperate drug user who will attempt anything to 'get high' and completely obliterate their brain, most likely leading to the users death.....
