It's hard to understand them. I'm 37 and the child of boomers so I've had my share of anger at that generation for their foolishness. Still, OP, you mustn't think that your generation will do any better, because your generation will, if fact, do worse than the boomers if for only one reason-my generation and the younger people today are very disjointed and selfish. By this, I mean, the agreement amongst the people in the groups does not exist and any group with no clear leaders and no group coherence is bound to be a ,pardon the french, but a clusterfuck. That's exactly what it has been as the boomer generation was led by the most vocal, selfish, rebellious of them and the rest were just sitting back taking care of their own. Because of this, the group coherence has continued to disintegrate with each generation since theirs. Now, the only rallying cry of generations is pointless and meaningless "pop culture" references. The young today also have an "allergic" reaction when one tries to get them to look at historical information. You must learn about the generations preceeding your own and you must try to look at them and their successes and failures with an eye to empathy-empathy is a real problem for those of gen Y, they have learned that it is foolishness and weakness, but without it, you put yourself in real danger.

Now, let's look at the baby boomer generation with some empathy and with minds that try to understand what they were thinking as they went through each decade that they were "in charge". We are looking at the 1970's, 1980's, 1990's, 2000's and now 2010's. This might seem like a long time to you, but in fact, I was born in 1974, so to me, it seems like not very long at all. The reality is that the boomers were rebellion from their adulthood, starting in the 1960's. They were obsessed with sexuality and tearing down social mores. That was their first mistake, but they wouldn't listen to anyone. Do you have any idea how many of their conceived children and then grandchildren they killed through abortion and through chemical abortion by the abortifacient effects of the birth control pill. See, that's one of the measures of a generation-how they treat the children they conceive and the boomers did damage not only to their own children, but also to the children of subsequent generations as they should have stood AGAINST birth control and abortion, yet they failed.

The baby boomers also allowed the foolishness of Nixon to stand and thus, fiat currency for the US which was connected to the entire world's economy was born and that is the reason for this current financial problem. Please see this: End of The Road movie-if you can find it. Ironic that that movie is about why currency today is fiat and not really worth anything, but they ask for 4.99 to view the movie. That's the confusion of the boomer. They were interested in their own wealth and they still understood the intense work ethic of their parents, but they never could work together to change the world in a coherent way-guess what? Your generation will not be able to change the world in a coherent way either because of the lack of clear leadership and the inconsistencies of your own generation. Plus, you should understand that if a man stands up and demands your loyalty to his leadership-except for The One and Only Jesus Christ whom you should give your loyalty to every day-any other human man is probably not worthy of your loyalty-just like barrack obamy. Number one reason why your generation will do as much damage to their own children and grandchildren as the boomers have done. You might actually do more damage, given the time.

I'm sorry, I know that was rambling. I just want people to be realistic and have empathy. Give the boomers the benefit of the doubt, knowing that they are certainly guilty of plenty of sins, thus we should pity them, people. We must be careful about condemning them as our generations are at least as sinful as their generation and we too will stand condemned. It's the foolishness of youth that the young are convinced that they can do better than their elders. That is almost universally not true.

Know history and have empathy for others. Be ready to ask for forgiveness for your own mistakes and learn to forgive others for their mistakes. We will each need plenty of forgiveness as time moves on. The older you get, if you are honest, the more you will know this is true.
