Quoting: ISLANDIA A U.S. Navy drone flying out of Patuxent River Naval Air Station crashed Monday after operators lost contact with the aircraft, NBC News reported. The BAMS-D (Broad Area Maritime Surveillance), an unmanned demonstrator aircraft that’s still in development, went down in a swampy area of nearby Bloodworth Island on Maryland’s Eastern Shore. There were no reported injuries on the ground and no damage to property. The cause of the crash is still under investigation. The Coast Guard set up a safety zone around the marshy area along the Nanticoke River where the crash occurred, The Associated Press reported. The BAMS-D is basically the Navy's version of the Global Hawk surveillance drone, made by Northrop Grumman. June 11, 2012 3:11 PM Why is the Navy flying drones over conus? |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 17192305 United States 06/11/2012 05:45 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | [link to en.wikipedia.org] Quoting: ISLANDIA $35,Million The Northrop Grumman (formerly Ryan Aeronautical) RQ-4 Global Hawk (known as Tier II+ during development) is an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) used by the United States Air Force and Navy as a surveillance aircraft. In role and operational design, the Global Hawk is similar to the Lockheed U-2, the venerable 1950s spy plane. It is a theater commander's asset to provide a broad overview and systematic target surveillance. For this purpose, the Global Hawk is able to provide high resolution Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR)—that can penetrate cloud-cover and sandstorms— and Electro-Optical/Infrared (EO/IR) imagery at long range with long loiter times over target areas. It can survey as much as 40,000 square miles (103,600 square kilometers) of terrain a day. It is used as a high-altitude platform for surveillance and security. Missions for the Global Hawk cover the spectrum of intelligence collection capability to support forces in worldwide military operations. According to the Air Force, the capabilities of the aircraft allow more precise targeting of weapons and better protection of forces through superior surveillance capabilities. The Global Hawk costs about US$35 million to procure each aircraft.[3] With development costs included, the unit cost rises to US$218 million.[4] Initial operational capability was declared for the RQ-4 Block 30 in August 2011. In January 2012, the Air Force announced that no further RQ-4 Block 30 aircraft would be procured, and that the existing fleet would be mothballed to reduce costs 218 million each. Nothing is too good for the government when you're spending other peoples money and the money of the next generation or two. |

Maybe we are moving into another dimension where flying planes will be ultra dangerous because they run into something that has not been there before.......energy beams.....only coming directly from an earth shift. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 9521511 United States 06/11/2012 06:06 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | these drones are a joke. If they can't control them, they shouldn't be flying them especially over populated areas. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1746051 posting from fema region 10 Why should that stop them? Punkin9 (OP) User ID: 2677321 United States 06/11/2012 07:07 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The only thing being reported on the "MSM news" is 1 Drone & 1 plane crash, but the local blog and police scanner had "3" aircraft down/crashed. The aircraft the news is not reporting on had 2 people taken to the hospital (per scanner), don't know if it was a drone or airplane. Punkin |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 17560845 United States 06/11/2012 07:42 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | So the drone, near Bloodworth island is confirmed, and the airplane in Delmar is confirmed. There are about 30 miles between the two locations. Quoting: Rabid_Wolf That just leaves the one in the middle unconfirmed. Near Cedar Hill Park. Which, interestingly enough, lays in a nice straight line between the two confirmed crash scenes. Now, if I were on a conspiracy website, I might suggest a beam/energy weapon test gone wrong or malfunction. Or it's just a coincidence. no such things as coincidence...only synchronicity |
