A spokeswoman for the Patuxent River Naval Air Station's Unmanned Aviation and Strike Weapons program says a 44-foot unmanned aircraft on a routine maintenance flight crashed near Bloodsworth Island around noon Monday.

I bet the drone, piloted by some vidiot kid at an air base, collided with planes in mid air.

Patuxent handling the crash. "By authority of Patuxent, Do Not approach the scene", the message went out on the scanner. Then "classified info on the aircraft", do not approach, keep people back, and last thing I heard "get a picture".

This is in the Baltimore area, across the Chesapeake Bay from the Drone crash.

I knew this Bama Drone crap was going to cause serious security problems. The tighter they grasp the more they fail.

A U.S. Navy drone flying out of Patuxent River Naval Air Station crashed Monday after operators lost contact with the aircraft, NBC News reported.
The BAMS-D (Broad Area Maritime Surveillance), an unmanned demonstrator aircraft that’s still in development, went down in a swampy area of nearby Bloodworth Island on Maryland’s Eastern Shore.
There were no reported injuries on the ground and no damage to property. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
The Coast Guard set up a safety zone around the marshy area along the Nanticoke River where the crash occurred, The Associated Press reported.
The BAMS-D is basically the Navy's version of the Global Hawk surveillance drone, made by Northrop Grumman.

Initial operational capability was declared for the RQ-4 Block 30 in August 2011. In January 2012, the Air Force announced that no further RQ-4 Block 30 aircraft would be procured, and that the existing fleet would be mothballed to reduce costs
