The US and the Russians have operatives involved in Syria, as well as Iranian infiltrators and key instigators within, and embedded in the Syrian army, and Assad regime.

There are NO current overt spec. ops in Syria.

It's a big game with many players, all seeking different goals, however since the Russians have the most vested and lucrative interests in Syria, the Russians will prevail.

Security, peacekeeping and any new government that comes into power following the inevitable fall of the Assad regime will all be under the control of the Russians, with only the exception of UN and other international observers.
