Yet another twist in Egypt's endless political saga: The Supreme Council of the Armed Forces is now planning to establish a new "national defence council," according to a leaked decree. The council will include a few civilians - the president, prime minister, parliament speaker and defence minister, to name a few - but it will be dominated by military officers, and its decisions will be based on majority rule. The military, in other words, will effectively preserve its veto power over the civilian government in matters of "national interests- de facto, the newly elected president will hold no power, kinda like Queen Elisabeth-nice Arab spring guys Last Edited by Cosa Nostra on 06/18/2012 02:43 PM Cosa Nostra, loose association of criminal groups that share a common organizational structure and code of conduct. |
