BEWARE-GLUED MEAT SCRAPS BEING SOLD IN RESTAURANT AND MARKETS AS PRIME CUTS POSE HEALTH HAZARDS
Consumer Alert!!!!!
Several days ago I went with a friend of mine to a fairly exclusive restaurant in Brielle, NJ. My friend order Filet Mignon(i had offered to treat) so when our dinner arrived I noticed that my friend had a bewildered expression on her face after several bites. I asked what was wrong and she pointed to the cut of meat. It looked like it was ground beef that had been molded into a cut of Filet Mignon. The muscle fibers were running in all different directions and the surface was like that of a grilled hamburger. We both thought it tasted like ground beef.

We talked with the manager who insisted that it was a normal cut of Filet Mignon, however, he was willing to allow her to order another selection and did not charge us for the Filet.

I have started eating pasta, no seafood or meat. You will see why.

The fact that this practice is fraudulent is one thing, however, the fact the it is dangerous and can cause food poisoning or worse is a totally different story.

Would like to know if anyone else has experienced anything similar in the recent past, either purchased in a store or a restaurant.

Could use a little help here if someone knows how to embed the video, please. I think this is going to be a much bigger issue in the very near future as the quality of our food sources decreases.

There was a Frontline or some other PBS-type video a number of years ago about the meat processing industry, only four processors for the whole country, as I remember. Hundreds of cows contribute to one hamburger, I think it was, meaning one cow with a problem can contaminate the whole batch. Then there is the disaster around sanitation.

I also remember something about a Purdue (sp?) chicken processing plant in some place like Georgia. I think it burned to the ground and workers were killed because the doors were locked. If the workers were being treated like that, what did they do to the chickens?

My very first job was cashier in a small local bakery. Gaaack!!!

Between industrialization of food production and criminal-minded small food producers, you buys your vittles and you takes your chances. It's really hard work being a foodie, if you care about this kind of thing, which I do.

Eating away from home is something I don't do often at all, but if something doesn't look right, don't eat it! Send it back! Most people who are fortunate enough to have jobs waiting tables are desperate for tips and want you to be happy!
We still eat meat in our household, but it's something that makes it easier to maintain enough calories without more carbs for my diabetic husband. Look closely at the packaging for what you buy. If it seems that they have added new stickers or switched prices on the item, stay away. The color should also be appropriate for the type of meat, and no meat should have an offensive odor when raw.

And this is why I try to prepare my food from scratch as much as possible. If you have a raw bone-in chicken breast in front of you, you're a step ahead. If the label says it was free-run and fed right, you might be a couple steps ahead.

It is had to do. Even if you by organic spaghetti and it is whole wheat do you really know what you are getting. i am just trying to limit my down side risk as bad meat can kill you right away. Gmo wheat will take a while. Our quality of all food stuffs has been decreasing over the years. It is very noticeable to people over 55 years who have been use to good non GMO produce. The produce my look good but it tastes bad and is bad for you. There are a lot of hybrids out there too.

All our fruits are hybrids and there sugar content has increased by about 60% or more. So fruit is really not that good for you any more.

No doubt it's even worse today. They shouldn't be allowed to use the same name as a whole cut of meat. If they use glue, it should be listed on the label.
If it comes from Pork blood, it certainly isn't Kosher or Halal is it?
